CD Description

2008 digitally remastered and expanded edition of this great lost R&B/Soul classic including 10 bonus tracks (seven of which are previously unreleased). Herbie Goins joined the great Eric Delaney Band and whilst touring with them in the UK, decided to move to England. He then went on to join the Chris Barber Jazz Orchestra, but the call of the Blues was too strong for him and so he became the official singer in Blues Incorporated with Alexis Korner. After some years with Korner, Herbie formed his own R&B band with John McLaughlin on guitar. Soon Herbie became one of the famous singers of the Mods at legendary London clubs such as The Flamingo and The Marquee. His song "Number One in Your Heart" became a Mod anthem. During this time there were many memorable sessions featuring Herbie and his own band The Nightimers with Otis Reading, John Lee Hooker and others. 22 tracks. Zonophone.

Brilliant !! 14 May 2009

As with some CDs i purchase it was the price of this CD that was a main driver to purchase it. I was aware of some tracks Herbie released and liked them enough to take a chance and purchase a complete album of his,

And very pleased I am too. I Cant Get No Satisfaction, Look At Granny Run Run, Turn On Your Lovelight and 36-22-36 - all classics and all done in Herbies soulful way. The big surprise for me (and why i never associated this before is a mystery) is the Nightimers track "Yield Not To Tempation" another classic Bobby Bland track and a firm Mod favourite, a track which I didnt associate with Herbie goins band. On the whole I was very impressed with the CD and for the price is perfect.

As expected there were a couple of tracks that are not to great (the titles give them away) but overall 5 stars

In a time of not much money being around I would gladly spend a few quid on great reissue of an old classic.
