More About the Author

You can probably see by the number of books I've written about NLP that I am totally passionate about it. Most of my books are for Mums and Dads, children and teenagers, teachers and anyone in fact who has little people in their life. This is because the skills and techniques of NLP (despite the long winded name - neuro linguistic programming) are actually incredibly child-friendly and easy to learn and use. I would recommend 'Be a happier parent with NLP' as this is what you might call a parenting guide to NLP as its really thorough. If you're very limited on time and want a quick read I would recommend the Engaging NLP series of Workbooks which are available in several languages now. There are also a couple of EBooks 'Positive Parenting with NLP' and 'Confidence for Kids' which are quick reads but again packed with useful tips.

Books such as 'Self-Esteem Workbook', 'NLP Workbook' and my new book out this week 'Secrets of the NLP Masters' have plenty of anecdotes from the other loves in my life; sport and health.

As well as writing about NLP, I also train NLP Practitioners in how to apply NLP techniques with children and I also train teachers and parents in NLP.

As JudyBee I write children's books and as you'd expect there is a definite NLP angle and the series I'm co-writing with a team from The JNP Project have themes such as kindness, harmony, forgiveness and so on. You can order these books from their website http://www.thejnpproject.com . There is an accompanying Parent Kit for each book that is written by me as well as Parenting Tips and Parent Q&A via the Members' Forum.

My own children inspire me all the time. They are Lucy 26, Alex 15, Jess 22 and Paul 14. Only Paul still lives at home but the others visit all the time, raiding the fridge and sharing their lives with us. Happy times! We live in Taplow, near Maidenhead with husband Edward (a Geologist) and Roxy and Holly our dogs and 6 hens. We all love sport and over the years have enjoyed many cycling and ski-ing holidays together.

My next book 'Engaging NLP for Weight Loss' is in its final stages and I expect that to be available before Christmas.

Although aimed at teachers, this book is also a great asset to anyone who supervises others whether in a coaching, or employment environment. Even parents who need to supervise their children's homework can learn a lot about how best to help their child from this book. The skills that are learned from the book are transferrable to many areas of life and across a whole spectrum of ages.

This is a workbook and the exercises in it are both easy to complete yet thought provoking. The worksheets give great suggestions on how even simple language can make changes in how your students react. For example, how many people think as I did that asking someone to "try" was a positive request? I doubt many people thought that the very word "try" is actually setting someone up for failure, and not success! The other concepts and skills in the book, such as how to identify how each child in the class learns and how to teach a class with a mixture of different types of learners, are equally as easy to understand and implement. NLP for Teachers should be a required read for anyone who has any kind of leadership role.

Although 'smaller' than expected, this book is clear and concise with some very handy tips and ideas. It is written well and the information is easily accessible for those not already familiar with NLP. I have already employed some of the principles in my practice. One thing that I was surprised about was that there was no mention about the relevence of eye positioning with regard to VAK, whether for individuals or class/group working.
It is a shame that 'the powers that be' do not give enough credit to the relevence of NLP in the educational work environment. A certain amount should, in my opinion, be on the curriculum for teacher training.
After reading this, I purchased the '...for Children' book in the same series. I will be incorporating some of these excercises into my small group work regarding social/learning skills.

A must for all teachers! This is a straight forward and easy to read guide in applying NLP techniques with your class. The NLP jargon and buzz words are simplified making this book easy to understand. Whether you're an experienced teacher or an NQT this book delivers much insight into using positive communication within the classroom. For readers new to NLP there is a wealth of practical applications and for others it reinforces and reminds us of the positive implications of using NLP with students. Having taught for over 15 years I wish this book had been available to me when I first started out! A valuable handbook and highly recommended!
