Being a mechanic I use my Maglite every day. A lot of my workmates use this LED in their Maglites and recommended it. Before upgrading with the LED I used to go through a pair of batteries every week, now they last about 2 months! One of my mates has had one for over 2 years and it is still going strong without the hassle and cost of bulb changes. Keep in mind there is no focusing but in my job that is an advantage, you don't want to keep fiddling with the head all the time.
The beam is very smooth and lights up a broad area without the ugly rings and black spots I had before. It also stays bright for the duration of the battery life rather than fading as it does with the original incandescent bulb. This is not for spotting squirrels up a tree at a 100 paces but for for medium close work it is perfect. Well worth it.

Excellent product, much brighter than the original bulb but lasts 5 times longer.
Instructions could be better so, remember to pull the collar down to release the old bulb, keep it pulled down, then inserting the new bulb.

I was slightly disapointed in this product, since you lose the focus ability thats a nice feature of all maglites. The packaging clearly says flood pattern, its a shame the Amazon blurb didn't mention it!
However, the LEDs are nice and bright and the overall benefits are probably worth having.
