  • Find in the dark flashing LED
  • On demand illumination - press and release push-button operation (without changing lens focus)
  • Auto-off (14.5 mins) - prevents accidental drainage

Combined with an LED conversion, this makes a great addition to a Mini Maglite. Fitting is simplicity itself, just unscrew the old end-cap and screw in the replacement. It's not as robust as the aluminium end-cap that it replaces, but it adds so much more functionality to your LED maglite that it's worth it.

3 brightness settings is handy for saving batteries or just emitting the light you need - no point blasting out at full power if you're just reading a book in bed. The two different flashing speeds is less useful (at least for me). The button itself flashes red every couple of seconds to help you find the torch in the dark, not always ideal if you're trying to get to sleep, but this is easily remedied by turning the torch off using the "traditional" maglite control of twisting the bulb "hood" at the front of the torch. Of course, this means that your IQ switch won't work until you turn the torch back on again by twisting the bulb hood the other way.

All in all, a neat and worthwhile addition of you're upgrading to LED.

Works well if you can figure it out. 28 Nov 2007

We screwed it on and couldn't get it to work. Hmmm...must be defective, sent it back, amazon was awesome in replacing it. Screwed it on and that one doesn't work either. Call up Nite-ize directly, they said screw it in. Duh, did that. Finally, after playing around with it for a few frustrating days, I put the batteries in backwards. You know, plus side on the springs. It works now, who knew....not customer service. Hopefully you don't have to go through the same thing after reading this review. Works really well now that it's all figured out.

Works but very very crappy quality 10 Sep 2010

This one is my third one I have purchased. The previous one broke as soon as I accidentally dropped flashlight. The second one broke after a few months of use. The only reason why I kept purchasing this is because I don't like how the MagLite turns on by twisting the top. I carry my MagLite on my belt for work and throughout the day I'm constantly sitting up, down, and moving around. It manages to twist itself on during the day and I usually don't realize it until the end of the day. This thing eliminates that because you turn it on from the bottom.

Worked for 5 minutes 30 Nov 2008
By C A - Published on Amazon.com
I've bought the nite-ize LED upgrade, tail switch and IQ switch for a mini-mag 2xAA flashlight.

I've thrown it all away. What a disappointment.

The IQ switch worked for about 5 minutes before it broke.

Terralux is much better. Their tail switch fits properly and works great. Plus it is sealed and still allows for a wrist strap, if desired. While the terralux doesn't flash or dim, it works when I need it.

By the way, my emails to Nite-ize went unanswered.

Buyer beware.
