Product Description

Clear Waters is an effective treatment for blanket weed in ponds. Due to the powerful active ingredient in Clear Waters, decomposing blanketweed will need to be removed. After a few days any remaining blanketweed should be removed with a fine net, after this any small amounts left will be decomposed by bacteria and collected in the filter. Clear Waters is safe for fish and plants when dosed correctly. This makes it the perfect solution for Blanketweed. 1 x 25ml spoon treats 500 litres (110 gal). Two treatments are required to get the desired results. Re-dose after 14 days. Safe for use with filters and UV lights. Ensure pond remains oxygenated. Mix the required amount with pond water in a bucket or watering can and distribute evenly over the pond surface. Avoid contact with pond plants. Powerful active ingredients -follow dosage and instructions carefully.

After spending all summer and winter pulling handful after handful of blanketweed out of my pond , something had to be done ,barley straw didn't work ,although it had in the past .I just could not stop this problem ,until I found Clearwaters that is.
I was worried about harming or even killing my koi and goldfish as well as my established plants ,water lillies , water hawthorn, forget me nots, marsh marigolds etc. not to mention frogs and other pond life ,but felt reassured by nishikoi customer service to give Clearwaters a try.
First of all I manually removed as much blanketweed by hand as I could, the waterfall was clogged with handfuls of it, then it was time to add the treatment.
I was told it was important to calculate the volume of water in the pond very precisely as too much treatment could be a problem. If anything I may of underdosed the treatment as my pond is a difficult shape to calculate ,better to be safe than sorry I thought .
Within no time at all the blanketweed died away , but my pond life and plants were fine, even the oxygenating weed in the pond was fine, the filter removed most of the dead blanketweed leaving me to net out the rest. Several weeks have gone by ,and yet the blanketweed has not returned, the waterfall as well is clear of the dreaded weed , if it does return i'll be ready for it next time !!!!.
If you are worried about using this product then don't be , it really does work ,and quickly.!
Many thanks Nishikoi for a fantastic product, and good customer service.

My expectations are usually high, but previous experience of using products to clear blanket weed had convinced me they were at best only partially succesful. However, two doses of Clear Waters completely eradicated the problem. This is a fantastic product that works.

Appears to be an excellent product and half the price from this seller (Pondworld Aquatics Superstore Ltd) compared to local pond centers (no, I am not connected to this seller in any way!). Only applied initial dose at the end of August so cannot comment on it's effectiveness over all the spring and summer months but to date, blanket weed growth is minimal. Will keep adding the monthly maintenance dose as recommended and see what happens next year.

Update:-
In November my largest and oldest goldfish became sick for the first time - very lethargic with fins drooping and his beautiful fantail became very bloodshot. The other fish appeared fine. I had been very careful to weigh out the correct initial and maintenance dosages as specified for the volume. Isolating him was not practical for me and could have caused even more stress to an already sick fish so I decided to drain off 3/4 of the water and replace it with fresh tap water. I know that untreated tap water can stress fish but I did not know what else to try. Within 2 days he recovered and has been fine since but I have not added any more of this product. It may just be coincidence.
It is now May and there are no signs of any blanket weed even though the material in the pond has been greatly diluted. As the fish was OK for the first couple of months I suspect that adding maintenance doses has increased the concentration to a potentially toxic level and I am reluctant to use it again. Any comments about the usage of this product would be very welcome.
Update:-
June 2014, blanket weed has now appeared again. Considering applying a single maintenance dose to see if it zaps the weed without harming the fish - watch this space....

I wasn't sure whether I should believe all the positive reviews, but every one of them is perfectly correct! This product really does get rid of all the blanket weed in a pond - totally! I had to use two treatments, but the result is amazing, and I have plenty left should more blanket weed appear in the future.

I've used a variety of blanket weed treatments over the 20 years plus that I've had a pond with limited success. Having tried the natural (barley straw) and the chemical I thought I'd try this. I was concerned because I have both a fish pond with fairly large Koi, shabunkins and a large sturgeon along with lillies and oxygenator plants and a wild pond which has oxygenators, small lillies and was full of tadpoles and I didnt know how this would work with both of these. I shouldn't have worrried! Within a couple of days both ponds were looking clearer and the wild pond effect was dramatic - I had been taking blanket weed out about twice a week to keep it from being really overgrown and within 2 days it had begun to clear it. Following the second treatment (after 14 days) both ponds are fully clear of blanket weed!! Even the waterfall in the fish pond, that had algae growing on the stones, was completely clear! I don't normally strongly recommend aquatic products - but this is an exception - don't wait buy it now!

Passed the 'Ronseal Test', does exactly what it says on the tub! Great product and should last me a good while as very little is required for my small pond.

You do need to keep the pond well aerated if you have any fish in during treatment as the dying blanket weed does have an impact on water quality.
