Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Players control a spaceman named Captain Olimar who has crash-landed on an unusual planet. The goal of the game is to help Olimar collect his vessel's lost parts, which have been scattered all over the planet. Luckily for Captain Olimar, the planet is inhabited by strange little creatures, called Pikmin. Pikmin are plant-like life forms that come in three different colours red, yellow and blue. Each type of Pikmin has unique strengths, which Olimar must use to his advantage. Red Pikmin can withstand fire, blue Pikmin can survive in water, while yellow Pikmin can destroy obstacles by using bomb-rocks. Players can control the Pikmin sprouts individually, in groups, or in one large Pikmin posse of 100 creatures. Pikmin on Wii will allow users to utilise all new controls when playing this GameCube favourite, and offering a more complete experience on the Wii. The New Play Controls have made this version of Pikmin more accessible and tighter, with the most notable difference being that Captain Olimar is now controlled with the Nunchuk's Analogue Stick while the cursor is moved with the Wii Remote's pointer.

The player's goal is to use the Pikmin to locate the 30 different parts of the Dolphin and carry them back to the spaceship to repair it so that Olimar can return home. The catch is that this task must be accomplished within 30 in-game days

Product Description

Aw, those Pikmin - they're so cute. And so helpful! Whatever you need done, be it swimming across treacherous waters, building heavy wooden bridges, or carrying life-threatening bombs, those little Pikmin just love helping you out. In Pikmin for Wii, you take on the role of Captain Olimar who has crash-landed on a mysterious planet, watched his spaceship explode into the ether and now needs to find some Pikmin pals pronto in order to get back into orbit.

Nintendo has remade this GameCube real-time strategy classic for Wii as part of the New Play Control! series. Now every Wii owner has the opportunity to take on the surreal world of Pikmin and track down the pieces of Olimar's spaceship by overcoming the obstacles, puzzles and foes that lie in wait. There are three types of Pikmin you can guide through the lush landscape: the fiery, aggressive Red Pikmin, the amphibious Blue Pikmin and the bomb-specialist Yellow Pikmin. They don't just appear out of thin air to obey your every whim though. They live in special little Onion capsules and start off life as an Onion seed, which you must nurture through three stages of development. And make sure you get them all home safely by dark - hostile enemies lie around every corner, so it really pays to know your Onions.

The all-new Wii version of Pikmin adds several features to the game, including the ability to replay any day, and an enhanced control system, using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. You only have 30 in-game days to complete your mission and get the Dolphin spaceship up and running. Can you manage it? You'll need your wits about you as you rediscover the magic of Pikmin in New Play Control! Pikmin on Wii.

  • Part of the exciting New Play Control! series on Wii
  • Collect up to 29 spaceship parts so that Captain Olimar can continue his journey
  • Multiple endings to enjoy, dependent on level of success
  • Use Wii Remo

Fun:
first off, the game is blast, controlling little coloured creatures to help gather parts of your wrecked ship? genius!
Nintendo got it right when the said the were re-making gamecube games with new BETTER controls to be released as Wii games!
Pikmin was a great idea to start off with in 2001-2002 when ninendo created the game, yet it featured kind sloppy controls that made it look bad, not to mention the loathing day limit.

Yet, Nintendo have really answered the prayers of Ninty fans this time!
Nintendo released New play control pikmin as the first of a few to be re-done, yet, although you have the great new controls and options, you have th big letdown that made pikmin upopular as a gamecube game, the time limit, that is why Pikmin misses the 5/5 , because nintendo kept it there.
Overall, it is still a fun and addictive game, for those who haven't ever played it, this is essential, just be aware the bigger and better sequel is in line for the Wii-make and will be coming out soon!

Fun:
First off: This game is great.

It's a fun game to play, and in my opinion the wii controls help it a lot. I did (and still do) own the original on the Gamecube, but I didn't really enjoy it that much if I'm honest. However, now that I have the Wii version, I am loving the game! If you played the original Pikmin and liked it, but thought it was just missing the mark, do try this version!

The only problem with this game is, as other people have (and likely will continue to) point out is the time limit in each day, unlike Pikmin 2. I still recommend it, and will definitely be buying Pikmin 2 if they re-release it on the Wii!

I really loved it 18 Aug 2009
Fun:
I bought this game a few weeks ago, I really only enjoy strategy games. This one really got under my skin. I played it once through knowing I was not going to get all the pieces but just sat back and enjoyed playing and mooching around the levels. Frankly I did not expect to finish it since I have never managed to complete a game yet. I managed 20 out of 30 pieces the first time and that was when I decided I could do it for real. The first 12 "days" were easy. I had done them before and knew my way around. Getting to new areas after that was progerssive ans sensible. The time limit, that may people seem to resent, was no problem for me, it was part of the challenge. The game would be easy if you could just keep going til you won. Second time round I actually got all 30 pieces in 26 days, leaving me 4 days to go back and kill more creatures and have a good look around.
Perhaps I am biased to this game becasue it is the first time I have completed a game but I would highly recomend it. I am definitley getting Pikmin 2.

Addictive
A gentle and pleasing game, addictive and frustrating in equal measure. The control system is good, given the versatility that it needs to have, but slightly frustrating at times.
