Amazon.co.uk Review

While gentler games like Nintendogs and Animal Crossing: Wild World have become the best selling games on the DS, the Harvest Moon series has been ploughing very much the same field for nearly a decade now. As always the game starts with you inheriting a farm and most of the game revolves maintaining and growing your crops of vegetables and herds of animals. You have to work pretty hard at it too, planting crops, watering them and then harvesting them. Animals have to be watered and feed too, eggs collected from chickens, cows milked and sheep shorn.

Once you’ve tired yourself out with your daily chores though there’s a whole village to explore around you, as you collect wood to make new buildings or harvest fruit and other rare items to sell at the shop and expand your business. Your main goal in town though is to find yourself a sweetheart and woo her enough so that she’ll agree to marry you. As fun as all this is though it’s exactly how the Harvest Moon games have worked since the original SNES game and this version takes almost no advantage of the DS.

The touch screen is used merely as an inventory and as a means to pet your animals - other than that it’s almost entirely superfluous. Even worse, the graphics seem identical to a GBA game and not even a particularly good one at that, with some very poor animation. There are a few new features, such as a mini-casino run by the harvest sprites, but it’s not nearly enough to tempt you if you have one of the more recent GBA versions. If you haven’t though, it’s a reasonable, if unambitious, introduction to the series.

I bought this game wondering what the fuss was about, now I am completely addicted and find myself planning what to do next when I'm away from my DS. It's quite slow to begin with but earning money is so easy. All you have to do is walk round town meeting people and picking flowers and fruits from the community gardens and deposit them in the transport bin. You can also find plenty of materials to pick to make your own buildings. Although the character's stamina is not very good until you upgrade your tools. (You have to gather material from the mine). Plant loads, get the sprite's working for you and the job's a good 'un. The instructions aren't very clear and to start with I felt a bit thrown in at the deep end but read the manual and with a bit of investigation through the net and reading people's reviews all over the place you soon pick it up. Excellent and highly addictive game. 5*'s

When I first got Harvest Moon I thought it was going to be a really broing game, completly based around farming and way too easy, but I am very pleased to say I was absolutely wrong.
1) It is definetly not boring, with hundreds of things you can do and even more you have to do it is impossible to say "there is nothing to do"
2) Similarly, Harvest Moon is definetly not completely based on farming. Yes, it's a farming game, but there is so much more to do. You can collect produce, mine, get a wife, help the sprites and so much more.
3)Harvest Moon is also quite challenging. in the first month or 2 when you are struggling for cash, it does get pretty hard, but once you get into the swing of things it does get slightly easier and you can focus on progressing in the game

Basically I think Harvest Moon is the best game there is for DS and anyone at all would enjoy it. You may think it's for babies, but just give it a go and I guarantee you will like it.

This game is fantastic.
There is always something going on,you start off trying to earn money and plant crops. Also you raise baby animals and you can marry and have childeren, but for an adventure there always has to be someone unhappy with what you're doing. The picture quality is good.I love this game and play on it every day. (From Mum: yes, but what about your homework?) So I give this game 5 stars

Now this is a bit long but I can't help it cos its just SOOOO GOOD!

This is a game where you need to start from scratch and build your own farm. You also need to rescue 101 harvest sprites who have been banished to another world along with the Harvest Goddess, by the Witch Princess because she found her very annoying for jumping out at her shouting Ta-Daaaaaah!!! all the time. I know its a very believable plot! You play as a boy and you have a dog and cat. You need to start the game by collecting wild flowers and selling them, you also have 2 packs of turnip seeds.

The sprites are rescued as you plant and water crops, collect materials - wood and stone - needed to build things like animal/bird houses, and as you go about other tasks. The sprites can help you when you rescue them, if you pay them medals that you win in the casino. They can help you water crops etc because the time in game goes very quickly and you won't have time or energy to do everything if you plant too many crops at once or once you have animals to look after as well.

Theres 4 seasons Spring,Summer,Fall and Winter with 30 days in each. The times are something like 10 minutes every 5/10 seconds. This is a shock at first and I thought is this it?!! I didn't get into it straight away mainly cos I never read most of the instructions before I rushed to start the game and was unsure what to do. When I found out there was more in the booklet I had no problem. It gives a lot of help. You can telephone different shops and order things to be delivered, you can go to shops in the village and the booklet tells you all the opening times and the locations, you can get married and it says what presents the available girls like. I'm concentrating on the farm for now.

Harvest Moon is full of adventure its probaly the best game I have. I've got really far in the game and I am really enjoying it. At first you might not understand it or it might be a bit boring but you've got to get into it.
Basiclly on the game you have to make money. How do you make money? You could go to the mine. You could grow crops on your farm. Or you can weed your farm and put all the stones, logs and weeds in the shipping box. You can keep animals if you go inside your hut theres a phone thats a vital thing in this game. It inables you to extend your house, buy food, get sheds and barns, animals, upgrade your tools and get items from watching the harvest sprite show. Oh yeah heres a recipe for curry you'll need it: Curry Powder, Rice Balls and any colour grass. You can get all this in the Shop just go the phone and buy it and don't use this recipe in real life. Thats all basiclly BYE

This is the best gameboy game ever!
I was on amazon and was reading the other reviews to see if it was any good. And so i got it from the local game store.
It took quite along time to read the manual and stuff but it was worth it!
You can grow crops, smash stones and wood for animal shelters you can breed chickens, cows and sheep. You get a dog and cat at the start. and by the way if anyone already has the game and is thinking, wheres my horse? then i can tell you! you dont get the horse as soon asyou start.
someone brings it to you a bit after! TIP! DO NOT MAKE ANIMAL SHELTERS OUT OF FODDER IT BLOWS DOWN IN THE WINTER AND YOURE ANIMALS ALL DIE IN IT!... i was so sad when my chickens got crushed in the winter storm.. anyway its the best game ever! i would totally recemend it!
