I found this game in a bargain bin at a local video game store, so I thought I would try it on for size, so to speak. There are some pros and cons to this game. The pros: excellent graphics, nice soundtrack, great locales (some of my preferences were Grand Canyon, Louisiana, and Utah), good selection of characters. The cons: some characters don't corner or speed so well, and the expert mode is very difficult. I've actually managed to clear the expert mode, but all it really does in the end is unlock the final 2 postcards and a Huey driving challenge mode. In any of the three modes, you have to stay in 3rd place or better to clear it.
It would be nice if the time trial mode was a bit more lenient -- in other words, why not add 5 seconds to each time requirement? It's virtually impossible to beat unless you are trying for Milwaukee, Indianapolis Speedway, or the Daytona Beach tracks (all 3 of them are actual racetracks). Also, unlike it's predecessor -- Mickey's Racing Adventure -- you have no power-ups to help you clear the time trial modes. From what I understand, you have to beat all 20 tracks so that you can claim your gold stars and unlock more secrets. I am curious as to what the 21st and final track is -- perhaps New York City?? I have not been able to unlock Dewey, Louie, Trailer, or the Time Attack modes. Also, when I tried to link up this game with Mickey's Racing Adventure, it doesn't work!! (I used a GBA cable to link both games to GBA's, but perhaps it requires Game Boy Color to actually work.) If any of you know a better way to unlock the rest of the secrets, please feel free to share.
