Amazon.co.uk Review
If you like blazing-fast racing games (and have thumbs of steel), F-Zero: Maximum Velocity is one of the wildest rides yet for a handheld system. Based on the famous Super NES game of yore, the futuristic F-Zero asks you to pick from a starting line-up of four hovercrafts that tear across flat but hazardous tracks. Your goal: compete for first place so you can advance to the next track and difficulty level.

To have any success in F-Zero, great reflexes and a memory for track detail are absolute musts. While the controls are responsive, in general the frictionless racing means that almost all cars have a suitably loose feel to them, and require skilled pilots to handle corners. Be warned that gamers with adult-size thumbs may be in for a very painful experience due to the constant mashing of the GBA's shoulder buttons. When you get bored of racing the computer, you can take on up to four opponents via the link cable--and unlike multiplayer Game Boy games, only one cartridge is needed.

While F-Zero features many tracks and skill levels, there isn't much depth beyond the simplistic (yet challenging) racing. Fortunately, the silky-smooth animation and detailed graphics should keep fans of speedy arcade racers taxing their thumbs long after they've brought home the chequered flag. --Mark Brooks

Product Description
How about a little frictionless racing? F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, based on the ground-breaking game for the SNES, puts you in the cockpit of a futuristic hovercraft racer. Using the Game Boy Advance's shoulder buttons to steer, players will slide through curves and around obstacles as they hurtle their high-speed, low-gravity racers across the finish line. F-Zero: Maximum Velocity incorporates never-before-seen tracks and vehicles into the traditional mix of speed-pads and jumps. Best of all, up to four Game Boy Advance units can be networked via the separately sold communication cable for head-to-head racing.

4.0 out of 5 stars wow, thats fast...., 23 Aug 2001
F-ZERO is a classic, i remember it on the snes but the GBA version is just as good if not better. Its just so fast. A lot of GbA games suffer slow down when the screen gets busy, but f-zero is so smooth at all times while traveling at 576kmph round a track miles in the air. exciting stuff to say the least, this game really is good and i strongly suggest buying it over some of the other titles out now cause this is one you dont want to miss

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Pocket Racer, 2 Jul 2001
By A Customer
F-Zero was never quite the definitive racing game on the SNES in the minds of the masses, mainly because people were happier with the naff Outrun reminiscent Top Gear 2 and its cronies. However, F-Zero Advance is by far the most impressive title to have appeared on the GBA thus far, and here's why...

For a start, this game is fast. Forget the colour of Rayman Advance or the depth of Castlevania, this title will have your fingers clicking faster than level 24 on Tetris. Secondly, it's a beautiful port of the SNES game with all new courses and a few familiar worlds combined with a great selection of cars and leagues. Third, it is instantly playable and very hard to put down, the two benchmarks by which any game is judged.

Some have said this game is simplistic and boring. I bet they played Tetris without too many problems. Others claim that it is repetitive. That's because they couldn't complete the beginner leagues. If you want a seat-of-your-pants racing game that doesn't take itself too seriously and will keep you entertained for months and years, this title is unmissable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable piece of equipement, 16 Dec 2002
By A Customer
This game must be one of the greatest games i have played on any console, ever(apart from timesplitters 2)!! The graphics are fantastic compared to the general standards of gba games. The steering is amazingly smooth. A huge amount of detail is payed to all of the cars. At the start you only have 4 cars and 3 tracks but as you progress more become available
Each car has there own stats from top speed to steering. When you are racing you have a power gauge. As you bump into other cars or the boundaries your power decreases and when you reach zero...BOOM!! In each level there is a pit lane where you can charge up your power.
In grand prix mode, there are 3 different series': pawn, knight and bishop and three different difficulties. So as you can see there is alot to do.
If you are looking for a game that you can just pick up and play whenever you want then buy this game.
