Manufacturer's Description

After 25 fun-filled and action-packed years, Super Mario is still speeding into the future! A limited edition black Wii bundle including Mario Kart Wii and all the accessories needed to celebrate Mario’s 25th anniversary in speed and style will be available across Europe from 26th November 2010.

As well as a black Wii and Mario Kart Wii, the Mario Kart Wii Pack contains a black Nunchuk, black Wii Remote Plus, black Wii Wheel and Wii Sports. As if that wasn’t enough, the bundle will also include Donkey Kong original edition pre-installed on the Wii, in homage to Mario’s first ever appearance.

The first Super Mario Kart was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1992 in Japan, seven years after game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and his team put the finishing touches to Mario’s first major adventure, Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Since then, there have been 6 versions of the game for Nintendo’s consoles, with each game seeing players dive into frenetic racing action on tracks themed from locations in the Super Mario series of games. Mario Kart Wii has sold more than 24 million copies worldwide since its launch.

Mario Kart Wii allows you to race up to 12 friends and family simultaneously using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, ensuring everyone can get behind the wheel and celebrate Super Mario’s 25th anniversary with the Mario Kart Wii Pack, launching across Europe from 26th November 2010.

Fun:
It looks slick in the black colour and really sits so well with our family's black flatscreen sony tv and stand. It comes with one official motionplus controller and wheel but I also pre-ordered a 2nd one Wii Remote with Built In MotionPlus (Black)]I don't have any normal remotes so difficult to compare I'm afraid. Will update if I get one to compare with. I got another black wheel to match the one that came with it. The official one is great, but the other one also looked good as well and had some nice extra features too and its a bit cheaper. Hubb Steering Wheel. The Sports game included is as awesome as you would imagine and Mario Kart is simply the best game on the Wii, I have played with friends on it before and really love it, so this bundle seemed ideal. You also get Donkey Kong built in, which is great fun, especially for my kids. I have seen that there is a newer bundle with the Wii Fit Board included which I possibly would have got if I had seen it first. This is it Nintendo Wii Console (Black) with Wii Fit Plus and Balance Board + Motion Plus Controller (Wii). Hope that helps you out if you didnt know it was available. Probably going to order a different balance board as you can get those on here from other manufactures too. :)Wii Sports is as great as you would imagine, lots of mini games, tennis, bowling, golf, think I have played golf the most. Great way to unwind.

Hints and Tips: I suggest getting it connected up to your wireless internet (yes it does have wireless built in) so that you can go to the Wii shop channel and download the Wii internet channel (opera browser) it is like a simpler version of internet explorer that you would normally see on your pc/laptop. It plays most things, youtube and such should be fine. The Wii Shop Channel is the online storefront and download station on the Wii console, where users may purchase Wii Points and redeem them to download new WiiWare or classic Virtual Console games. Wii Points can be spent on the Wii Shop Channel with a Wii Points Card, available at game retailers, such as Game, HMV etc and of course Amazon! Nintendo Points Card 2000 (Nintendo DS/Wii) or Nintendo Points Card 1000 (Nintendo DS/Wii). They can also be obtained with a credit card right from the Wii Shop Channel. Click on the "Add Wii Points" button on the Wii Shop Channel menu to use your points. The Wii shop channel is easy to find on your Wii Shop menu. There are tons of great games on the channel, classics like the old mario games and so many titles that you thought you'd never see again like Sonic, Zelda, Kirby, Donkey Kong etc and so many more from all the old machines, SNES, N64 etc.. my personal favourite is Mario Kart N64. Use the Classic controllers for this or the Wii even has ports for a couple of the old GameCube Controllers. Whoop!!! :)

The Wii has an SD Card slot which is compatible with the following formats when used on the Photo Channel (Accessible from the Wii Menu:

Image Files: Format: JPEG, baseline only, Size: Up to 8192x8192, Video Files: Format: AVI files encoded as motion JPEG, Audio Files: Format: MP3

Please Note the following limitations: Some files in the above formats may not work with the Photo Channel.
The audio components of some video files may not be playable.
Using an SD Card with slow transfer speed may result in longer load times or irregular video playback.

Now about the USB Ports:
There are 2 USB ports on the back, these can be used for a number of things, I believe you can get a Net Connect: Ethernet to USB connection, there are a few on Amazon so that you can use this to connect to your router and get a faster connection. Not sure how worthwhile it is but it is an option. Or you could use the USB slot to connect a charger for your remotes. Suggest getting a charger for your remotes, have not got one yet, will update or you could also use it to charge your wii balance board with a rechargeable battery pack, again will update when i get one. The other use could be to connect a mouse or keyboard or both for internet use. I have connected up a usb keyboard and mouse to mine, i think any will do, but mine were ones by the company Cherry and both in black. I didn't buy these for the Wii but they double up nicely for it.

Everything in this bundle looks superb and plays smoothly. Would be great to see a family pack available maybe, that includes four remotes, four nunchuks, a wii fit board and a family game. In black of course, looks so much smarter. Ok that's it for now. I will update soon. Just bought a few games to keep the family entertained...or maybe they are for me :)

Just Dance 2 (Wii)
Goldeneye 007 - Collector's Edition (Wii)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)

UPDATE 1st December 2010: Still going great, the games have just arrived...think I may order some classic controllers for the console too as I think I am going to get a footy game like fifa and the wii ware channels use the classic controller too. The controller you get with Goldeneye 007 is quite small, ok for the kids, but its a bit small for me. I have used a friends one of these Nyko Wing Wired Controller (Wii) which was ace, so I think I'll get myself some. They aren't in black though. :(

UPDATE 2nd December 2010: Just spotted the Snakebyte Retro controller on this same page that is in black, thanks Amazon, great suggestions! Everything is still working great and the kids love it. Just ordered Fifa 11...yay!!!

Make sure you update the firmware on your wii, you can find that in the settings from the Menu screen. Think it fixes any bugs and such...not totally sure :)

Batteries seem to run out after about 20 hours of use or so, depending on what ones you get I guess. I was using Duracell top notch ones. Think I will get a charger next, see a couple on here that look good, Amazon seem to be suggesting either Hubb or CTA, but know there are Nyko ones and Datel and such out there. Anyone got any suggestions of which brand is best? I'll get one in the next couple of weeks and let you know if its any good. CTA or Hubb seem the best price, but a four remote one may work out better as I'm bound to need more remotes before Christmas. The kids all want to play Mario Kart that comes with the bundle most...when they can get me off the Golf that is.

UPDATE 7th December 2010: Just ordered a Nyko Quad Charger as I saw a deal on it and there are 125 reviews on Amazon.com for it and it's still almost 5 stars so that's what I'll base my pre-judgement on. Will put a review up on that product in the next day or so. It's not in Black but I'll put up with that as it will be sitting behind my Screen anyway so hidden from review and nice and tidy.

UPDATE 21st December 2010: The Quad charger is really great!! Video Review here on the Charger product page Nyko Charge Station Quad and 4 x Rechargeable NiMH Batteries (Wii)

Thanks for reading, hope it was useful. If you appreciate the review, give me a thumbs up please. :)

Excellent Wii Bundle 29 Nov 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
Fun:
This is an excellent Wii bundle for the first time buyer or somebody who wants to get the Black Wii. Everything is in the box to get started. However you may want to buy another Wii Remote for a second player. The console is easy to set up and if you have wireless internet in your home you will be connected after a few simple steps (you can also connect via ethernet). The built in Wii Motion Plus in the Black Wii Remote will not add any extra experience with the 2 games that come with the console however it will be handy for other games such as Wii Sports Resort (not included in this bundle).

Mario Kart Wii is one of the top games on the Wii and will give you and your friends/family hours of fun with a multitude of tracks and events to sink your teeth into.

I bought this console for a variety of hardcore games such as Tatsunoko Vs Capcom Ultimate All Stars (Wii) ,Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) and Light Gun games including The House of the Dead: Overkill (Wii) and Dead Space: Extraction (Wii).

However I also like a light hearted party game that my family (who are not gamers) could play. Therefore this console is perfect for family fun like Mario Kart Wii (included) and other great games such as Wii Party , Mario Party 8 (Wii) , Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii)

There are also over 300 Virtual Console games from old Nintendo and Sega systems which can be bought over the Wii Shop Channel via your Wii (whilst connected to the internet) and saved onto your console or SD card that has a port on the console.

This console has everything for the first time gamer, to the hardcore. And the price £149.99 is great value for money.

Fun:
Forgive me Source-Code for I have sinned. For years I was a dedicated PC-gamer. I though ill of gaming consoles, considering them consumer-toys rather than entertainment systems. Who needs overpriced and oversized gaming consoles that can play Movie-DVDs and even BluRayDisks when most good games are released for PCs as well and they look and play better on them, right? Well, the NINTENDO Wii is a different breed.

Gaming on the Wii is an experience one has to live at least once - but preferably whenever he or she feels blue. Sure, it may not sport the cutting-edge graphical capabilities of a SONY PS3 or the game titles selection of the XBox. Nevertheless, most Wii games take full advantage of the console's capabilities and the exclusive games selection include the unsurpassable The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the absorbing Metroid Prime: Trilogy, the mesmerizing Okami and the soothing Endless Ocean 2: Adventures of the Deep.

This is one of the best console+games bundle. The capabilities of Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort, when coupled with a Wii Balance Board, will leave you speechless! Whereas Mario Kart is one of the most fun games ever played on a console! Kids simply love it - and they have to fight their father away from the controller wheel...

This is the black edition and it looks great. I keep mine in our TV room and the black blends perfectly with my other home entertainment electronics. In any case, do not miss the revolution.

There is simply no other console that offers so much fun. Both SONY and MICROSOFT have technologically excellent gaming consoles - but NINTENDO is the only one that always keeps in mind that gaming is supposed to be FUN.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
