Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire's updated graphics, with weather effects, amazing sound and more than 200 Pokémon, also has over 100 new species and makes for a welcome evolution in the series.
The game has a lot in common with previous Pokémon games Silver, Gold and Crystal. For example, players can choose to be a boy or a girl trainer, an internal clock sets events at certain times and the game's handy-dandy Pokédex helps players keep track of the many stats. Your main goal is still to beat all the Gym Trainers and become the Pokémon Master, and as before you can trade Pokémon via the Link Cable--both Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire include exclusive Pokémon, and you'll find that some species are common in one game and rare in the other. So if you've played the old games, you'll be right at home. But not all is the same.
The most obvious change is in the battles themselves. Now that two Pokémon can fight on your side at the same time, you can tag-team them against an enemy by taking advantage of the strengths of your Pokémons while covering their weaknesses. For example, you can now have a water Pokémon watch your fire Pokémon's back. You can also attack more than one Pokémon at a time.
A whole new element to the games focuses on how berries are used in battle. And if you collect enough berries, you can take them to a Berry Blender and make a PokéBlock, which is a little super-charged sweet that raises your Pokémon's "Condition" attributes. You can then groom your Pokémon for regional contests and compete for ribbons like "Best of Show", which will unlock additional contests. There's even strategy in how to best use your berries: pick too many and the berry tree will disappear; plant berries, though, and a tree will grow. You can also build a Secret Base in special areas of the game, which you can decorate just like you can your room.
Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire have a great multi-player system, too; you can link up to four players for incredible battles. The only downside is that you can't link up with the old Game Boy Color games. --Bryan Karsh

Pokemon ruby and Sapphire are the 2 new Pokemon games and since i got them months ago i still can't put them down,this Pokemon game has so much more to offer then the other Pokemon games with:over 100 New! pokemon which all of them look Ace, The new 2 on 2 battles are one of the best things ever to happen to a pokemon game The graphics and sound have got so much more better The gameplay is ace The colours have got so much better aswell and thers loads more...Want to be in a Pokemon World...then go buy Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire..Now!

This is the biggest improvement ever between 2 games. There is more pokemon added to the originals. Also it's hard to miss the amazing graphics. The pokenav is good how it has a zoom button so that you can see what is in it. I like the den idea and the pokemon competitions like the beauty contests and berry blending. Also the running shoes are a great idea too along with the two differenrt type of bikes. One of them is a BMX which can do bunny hops and wheelies and stuff. The other one is a speed bike. The map is a lot nicer as well(probably the best out of all of them). The raining looks good as well. There is an improvement in gym puzzles also. To go with it I would recommend the strategy guide as it tells you where to get different pokemon. This game should be purchased by all pokemaniacs.

When you look back at pokemon yellow and the older games you realise how brilliant the graphics are.I would probably say it has the best graphics a game boy advance game ever has! It has got a wide variety of pokemon. The only problem is when you finish it, it's boring and you can never be bothered to do it again. Regarding that it is still an outstanding game and is well worth buying.
