Product Description

Wii mini offers big fun at a mini price. It comes packed with a red Wii Remote Plus controller & Nunchuk accessory. Plug it in and play!

How it works

Gaming with motion controls is a fun, active, and intuitive experience, and nothing does it quite like Wii. With games that give you the feeling of playing your favourite sports activities and adventures that put a sword in your hand like never before, your own body's movements are used to interact with the games in fun and delightful ways – all thanks to the Wii Remote Plus controller in your hand.

Wii Remote Plus

The Wii Remote Plus controller is the heart of the motion gaming experience on your Wii mini console. It responds to motion and rotation for enhanced control as you swing, swipe, thrust, or turn the controller. With Wii Remote Plus, your gaming experience becomes more active and immersive than you ever thought possible.

Every Wii mini console comes packed with one red Wii Remote Plus controller, but be sure to pick up additional controllers to get more friends and family members playing together!

Nunchuk accessory

Hook the Nunchuk accessory up to your Wii Remote Plus for even more flexibility in compatible games. The Nunchuk has similar motion-sensing technology, along with two buttons and a Control Stick. This allows you to move characters around while performing more specific and complex actions with the Wii Remote Plus controller.

Every Wii mini console comes packed with one red Nunchuk, but you can buy additional Nunchuk accessories to get more players gaming together.

Catch up on some great gaming experiences.

Wii mini is compatible with the huge catalogue of Wii games, encompassing top franchises from Mario to Zelda and Nintendo Selects too. There's never been a better time to catch up on some classic Wii titles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great basic console 22 Jan. 2014

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought the Wii Mini for my girlfriend for Christmas and we have had loads of fun with it since. The console is very lightweight and small meaning it will easily fit into your existing entertainment setup. The only options for connecting to the TV are Scart or RCA, no component as with the original Wii, but it looks fine on my 32" 1080i TV even when I am reasonably close to the screen. As other reviewers have noted, the Wii Mini does not include internet connectivity, so you can't use Netflix/iPlayer with this.

The reason to buy the Wii Mini is because it allows you to play the fantastic Wii game library at a low price. We have mainly been playing Mario Party 8, which is loads of fun with a group of friends, and Zelda: Twilight Princess, which is an epic follow-up to Ocarina of Time on the N64. The Wii was a very underrated console, and is thought of as being only about casual sports games, but it also had a bunch of great titles for more dedicated gamers, such as the two Zelda games Resident Evil 4 and Super Mario Galaxy. You can pick up remotes and other accessories for the Wii cheaply at the moment since it has now been superseded by the Wii U, so this is a chance to get a fantastic console very cheaply.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says 19 Feb. 2014

Great product, small and compact. If only Wii had issued these before. My children with special needs don't and can't use an internet connection. Only one USB port but we are fine with that. Nice quality and colour.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great little console for the money 30 July 2013
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Well we had a 6 year old wii which finally gave up working in the spring. So when I saw the wii mini I thought we'd give it a go.
Admittedly it does not do everything the original did but you know what? We are a family with 3 children between 13 and 6 and they have never done anything connected to the internet on the wii. Nor did they have a gamecube. Nor do we have a super flash TV with an amazing picture.
All the kids wanted was to play the games that they have been given on disc. The wii mini does this. They weren't even upset that no data could be transferred from the old to the new wii. They simply saw it as a chance to play it all again!
For the money it's great and I have a happy family - all I can ask for really!
It lost 1 star simply for only having 1 usb socket - wii sing is now a solo affair but I'm going to get a usb hub so should be ok!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent play console 14 Mar. 2014

Excellent play console. Has only one output, this means you can only have one platform connected at the time. We have Infinity and Skylanders, so we have to swap between the two when the children change games. All other games are played as in a normal wii.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good low cost alternative to the full Wii 28 July 2014
Verified Purchase
I've never owned the "full" version of the Wii, so can't compare directly with that. Overall it works fine, and for the price it's a good buy. We bought it for my 5 year old son on the basis that we didn't want to spend the money on a full current generation console, and that the Wii has lots of games geared towards children. Some caveats:

1. The graphics is grainy. I am assuming this is mainly due to the lack of HDMI out. Great shame. Though I'm unimpressed with the graphics in general, and even my 5 year old son who this is for pointed out that it looks different to the Youtube videos he's seen of the game we bought (Skylanders Swap Force), though he does not seem bothered by it.

2. Pointing the controller at the screen for the start up menu is annoyingly difficult to get right. Maybe we placed the sensor bar poorly, but there's no good reason to require pointing for the menu in the first place.

Buy if you want a cheap console to run old Wii games on, but keep in mind this is a cost reduced "last generation" console which won't run most new (Wii U) games.

My main issue is with the lack of HDMI and that's what drags this down - it's a real shame.

Keep in mind the rating is based on the low price and upfront expectation this is not going to be a current generation console. Compared to the (much more expensive) current generation, I'd have taken off another star. My son does not seem to care, though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good price 24 Feb. 2014

A good price - its about the same size as the old wii but is top loading and it looks cheaper. But it does the same job for less money and you can't buy the old one anymore so overall if your old wii is broken and you don't want to buy a wii u then this does the job.
