This is one of those albums that really is special, from the detailed gatefold packaging (notwithstanding the slightly freaky look of the band on the cover) with a good explanation of the music, through to the ethereal vocals and expert musicianship.
Having the two different versions gives you the chance to hear the different treatments, and are sufficently different that it's easy to play one after the other.
The songs are breathtaking, wonderful compositions with great melodies and is sung and played with one hundred per cent conviction.
The 'non-acoustic' album has nice modern touches without drowning out the traditional, or giving into anything that's a passign trend, and is 'modern' mainly in terms of production techniques rather than being 'dancy' or 'techno' in any way.
Anyone with an interest in Turkish/Persian style music with a contemporary twist should get this.
