I was pleased enough just to find that this DVD existed, as I have fond memories of seeing 9 Below Zero in the 80s, and try to snap up film of bands I have seen. This is not the same line up as I saw back then, but I was not disappointed in the least. Greavsie is still playing the guitar and singing and Mark is still playing the harp and now taking on quite a few of the vocal duties as well. The new rhythm section (I say new, but they have been in the band for quite some time now) are fantastic and they looked to be enjoying themselves.
9 Below Zero were always a treat to see live, and I can still remember the excitement and energy of their shows, but what surprised me on this DVD was just how good a guitarist Dennis Greaves is, in fact it all seems a lot more musical than before.
One or two of the old favourite songs are missing, but with the number of songs cramed onto this set you really can't feel short-changed. The only negative thing I could say about this is that the audience don't really do justice to the performance: 9 Below Zero in my opinion still need to be in front of a packed crowd.
Fans of old will be pleased to hear that Dennis Greaves is still the most cockney person on the planet and I can't believe he has not been snapped up by Eastenders long before now...
