This is an older book now, but I find myself pulling it out time and again. Which is funny considering I wouldn't decorate my house in her style. But there's something about this book. Perhaps it's the way she explains the (seemingly complex) process of interior decorating or her very personable and enjoyable style of writing. I might not want to imitate her style but I do love the way she puts things together, her rooms have a warm, lived-in feeling about them.
I own a fair amount of interior design books and this and Bunny Williams' Affair with a House are top of my list.

Nina Cambell offers her decorating 'tips from the top' in a practical book full of good advice about such important matters as storage, having different types of seating to suit the needs of different people when gathered together. The pictures let the book down, in that they look rather old fashioned in a heavy 1980s way that often makes it hard to confirm visually the point she is making with the text.
