Raw, honest and bravely realistic. Sometimes the truth is tough to take and squeamish people will shy away from it. Mr. Oldman unflinchingly tells his mesmerizing, gritty tale of working class life in London in the best way he knows from his own experiences living there, the book is written in screenplay format and is an excellent companion to the movie.

How well has Mr. Gary Oldman depicted the usual day to day life of many families in South London. It is such an honest and truthful account, a real eye opener to the many who have no inkling about how hard and horrendous life for the working class in London can be. And how we just manage to get by and through, accepting the way things are. It is just an absolutley beautiful book, so very moving.
