Really good for use with the SB900. The filters fit well, are recognised by the system and come in a good carrying case. They do melt and fade but you get 2 of each and I am still using my first ones after a year of ownership.
This is very good when used correctly and under the right condtions. Having experimented with them under various conditions the results were quite noticeable and the resulting shots were quite pleasing to the eye. Highly recommended. I would suggest that one should experiment to familiarise themselves with them

Nice filters, but can be troublesome

If you own a Nikon SB-900 then these filters are like the ones you received with your flash, but of course there's more of them. I got this so I can experiment and try lighting effects. The only thing I don't like is that it can be troublesome to switch out the gels in the filter flaashattachment. I'm considering buying a couple different attachments to keep the more used filters on, but that will be down the line. I'm not knocking the score down because of that as I knew that's what I was getting when I got it.

Color correction has never been this easy! When you place one of these color correction gels on your SB900 flash, the flash unit detects its presence and and knows which gel it is via a small set of "smart chips" at the bottom of each filter (gel). If you have a D700 (mine) or a D3 series body, the flash then tells the camera what gel is attached and the camera adjusts its white balance setting automatically (D300 users and lesser models must manually enter a correction). Sit back and watch whites become pure white while perfectly blending your flash with ambient conditions. Never ever let your audience know you used a flash. Make it look natural! The SB900 comes with both a full and quarter cut CTO (amber/tungsten corr.) and florescent correction gel (also feat. in this kit) but not the fancy effect colored gels.

As listed, made for sb900. This is very easy to place in, you have 2 of the same color gels, and they are very light and easiy bend so, keep them in its holder when not in use. Good for changing light sources for creative uses outside its normal use. i.e. blue gel on the filter holder and make something look cold, or red gel placed could make something look like its hot like a fireplace. Many creative out of the box ways you could use them for.
