Suggested title: Nikon HB-30 Bayonet Lens Hood Black for Nikon AF Nikkor 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED lens
This lens hood has a bayonet fitting specific to that lens. Web searches show that this hood is not listed as fitting any other lens: it does not fit my older Nikon lens that takes the same diameter 62mm filters and has similar looking bayonet fitting.
(Web searches show that the lens is recommended for general use on Nikon 35mm AF film cameras and [[Nikon D700]] full frame FX format DSLR cameras, but not for DX DSLRs.)
Appearance is a matter of choice. A less fragile alternative to this hood is a less expensive generic 62mm rubber screw-in lens hood, which fits the 62mm filter thread. It looks more rugged, and helps to protect the lens from knocks. A filter having a shallow attachment ring would be needed to avoid vignetting, especially if a 62mm fiter is also fitted.
Incidentally I have the silver version of the lens supplied with a silver hood, but feel that it looks much better with a black hood.
