4.0 out of 5 stars Worth a look 5 April 2009
The Magic Lantern camera guides are usually well written and useful additions to the manufacturers own manuals and the Nikon D3 edition is no exception.

It is useful to have expanded descriptions and real world examples to apply to some of the many functions of the D3 if only to re-assure the user that they are getting the best performance out of the camera.

An example of this might be the 51 point 3D matrix focus functionality of the D3 which can be configured in a multitude of configurations for different occasions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential 4 Aug 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
True to form, this book, as with any other by this author, is an essential purchase if you want to get the best out of your Nikon purchase. Simon clearly knows his Nikon gear as well as if he had designed it himself. Having a Nikon camera without the accompanying Simon Stafford guide, is like taking all your gear to a shoot and then realising you left your batteries on charge at home. And I speak from experience. /:O<

2.0 out of 5 stars Re-hash of the manual 1 May 2011
I found this book little more than a re-hash of the manual. Evidently written in a hurry in order to get to market fast, it has poor and badly signposted internal structure and is in Stafford's sycophantic style which grates very quickly. Frankly you'd be just as well off reading the manual.
