excellent little camera and really excellent delivery. The camera was (apart from inserting the batteries) set to go, and I was very impressed with the results (and enlargements). Knowing a bit about 'old fashioned photography' it was nice to see the cameras settings coming on screen automaticaly and there are a lot of options for more advanced picture taking. Only one small niggle and that was the cover over the mini usb connector. With short nails it is not easy. One last thing, make sure you download the camera manual, I was amazed at how much this little camera can do. Well worth the money,
Dougal Mid Wales.

I wanted a decent, cheap, pocket sized compact camera that doesn't skimp too much on features/focus/mpixels etc, that I can take to parties and events and not have to worry about too much compared to my Dslr.

I saw this one, thought the spec for the price was one of the best around, to be honest I've been fairly happy with it but it's not quite as good as I thought it would be and I am sadly a little disappointed.

The biggest disappointment is not picture quality as I wasn't expecting it to be as good as my Fujifilm S4000 although for 10 mega pixels and rave reviews it could be a little better, no the biggest problem is the stupid flash, huge delays between the camera being ready to take the next picture and the fact that it eats batteries :(

I use rechargeables - always have done but whereas they would last absolutely ages in my old fujifilm - they barely last through an evening in this little thing! It's actually so annoying I might disown this little nikon and buy another different make, my friend was using a little compact Panasonic and I was very impressed by the quality of his pictures, just need to ask him how long the batteries last.

Anyway, with the big whinge out the way I'll try and offer a fair over view

It is cheap (but maybe there is a reason for that having bought one) It's very simple to use out of the box, has a very good Zoom and lots of (maybe too many) shooting modes - I tend to just keep it on auto. It takes 2 AA batteries _ liked this cause it means you can always buy them anywhere if you forget your charger or they run out unexpectedly! However it would be great to have an optional in built LION battery too..

I bought this for my elderly father who wanted an easy to use camera. The camera seems fine but there is no instruction book with it - just a CD which I have spent ages trying to access the contents of with no success (lots of installation wizards on the computer needed). Consequently we have no idea what sort of memory card we need (as it doesn't come with one) so have made an educated guess. I do think that as the camera is a simple point and shoot one, it would be logical to include simple instructions with it rather than leaving the buyer to make them up. I should say you don't actually need a memory card but you can't save many photos on to the camera itself. Also the delivery was first class - this is a comment on the camera, not the supplier.

This really is a superb camera. Like previous reviewers, I had slight difficulty inserting the batteries and the memory card. I still haven't worked out how to attach the wrist strap! Having said this, the camera itself is excellent. The few pictures I have taken so far are great - despite the fact that I have a slight disability and can only hold the camera in one hand! The camera is lightweight, really easy to operate and transferring images to my laptop computer using the supplied software and supplied USB cable is surprisingly straightforward. All in all, I'm delighted with my purchase.

Ok had this camera for a while so time for a review.
Looks smart and takes nice piccies especially outdoors.
Only thing I notice is ringing on edges...as far as I can tell this is most likely due to high resolution sensors with electronics that cannot keep up.... a 5MP machine we had did not do this. The result is images at native resolution look unreal but once resized down they are fine....as if a sharpen effect had been over applied.
Our previous Canon camera behaved better but failed from the shutter problem that plagues many compacts...2 failures for us (other was a Samsung) so far, so hoping Nikon fare better.
Good company support with regualer info and a very easy to apply firmware update.
I guess customer support is the key with modern products and Canon sucked...Nikon give out a cosy helpful vibe so far.
Particularly like the movie function which we use a lot...by far the best sound quality we have had and a full 30FPS.
Lightweight after the chunky Canon but seems robust enough and the screen is hugh and clear.
Simple unfussy controls. Best battery life of the 3 compacts we have had.
Forget the crappy twain interface (only Samsung get that bit right)...just take the SD card out and use a reader.
Overall at the price a decent product.
