I Have used a Coolpix 3200 for some time and decided to upgrade to an L4 for its smaller size and wider range of exposure modes. It really is good and produces excellent pictures, and quick to set up and get going. However, I wish that I had read the other reviews - the lack of sound on a camera that has a video function is such an omission! (the older 3200 has sound). OK, for serious video work you would use a camcorder, but for fun use sound does add that extra dimension.
The other omission that wasn't obvious from the ad is the lack of a viewfinder. The LCD screen is large and bright, but in bright ambient light the viewfinder would have been useful.
Nevertheless I would still strongly recommend this camera and the Amazon deal is very good (do get a high speed SD card at the same time!). I have used small Pentax and Canon digital cameras but greatly prefer Nikon - also much better value for money!

Just got this dinky little camera and I love it!!! The shots are VERY crisp and clear, the product has a strong build quality (its gonna last!) and the settings can cope with anything man and nature throw at you! I LOVE it!!!! One small gripe though . . . . .the movie mode has NO SOUND!!!!!!!!!! Ah had heartattack when I found this out. Nearly returned it but the rest of this superb camera impress so much I love it too much to part with now. Oh and the 1 gig memory card is a must have bargain- its fab and can't be found cheaper anywhere else. I would strongly recommend this excellent camera- BUY it NOW!!!!!

I recently purchasd this camera and found it to be of top quality. The screen size at the back is excellent. I would suggest buying an SD card at the same time though. My only gripe is that on video mode there is no sound recorded which is a shame as it is really worth having. Incidently I found Amazons price to be much cheaper than anywhere else.
