Successor to the COOLPIX S1100pj, the S1200pj is now compatible with iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, as well as linking to a Mac or PC, so you can instantly beam images and movies onto any flat surface. At 20 lumens with DLP technology, the projection is brighter than ever, and can create projected images from 26 to 152 cm (5 to 60 inches) in size. Luminous controls on the camera and the optional remote control also make for easy operation in dark situations.

For those who want to get creative, the COOLPIX S1200pj can either shoot still images or movies using one of the special effects or can apply a range of filter effects to still images after they have been taken. Special effects to shoot with include Soft Focus and Nostalgic Sepia, and the in-camera filter effects to enhance images include Cross Screen, Fisheye and Miniature Effect.

The COOLPIX S1200pj features a 14.1 megapixel CCD sensor, NIKKOR 28 mm wide-angle 5x zoom lens and 7.5 cm (3 in.), 460k-dot LCD monitor with Nikon's Clear Colour Display technology.

As an artist I can only say its the best camera I have found, no need for a another projector, and great pictures, thank you very much for a great product, received quickly and well packed.

The manual does not mention iPods at all and the projection instructions for projecting from a computer are spread out through the manual.
The image projected from a PC is reasonable depending on lighting conditions and it certainly gives acceptable results for the price given that you get a 14Meg camera as well.
It seems surprisingly complex to get a video on a computer to display the first time - there are 3 CDs a manual, the movie display software 'widget' and the image transfer software -
And you can't project from a compouter without having installed the projection software, so you can't take it with you to a friend's for a movie night without the CD - why not have the software installed on the camera?
Overall, a useful gadget with room for improvement in the usability stakes, but lots of work needed to get it to work with an iPod.
UPDATE when I tried to obtain a cable to link to the iPod/iPad it was a long and protracted process Originally Nikon said that the cable was only providd as a promo and to order it from a dealer - dealers do not know anything about the cable. So tried Belkin, 5 attempts to log in to Belkin customer support (all unsuccesful) and finally a call to Belkin UK offices to who gave me another part number so I ordered that and it was the wrong cable. Then Nikon changed their minds and said the cable should have been supplied with the camera - The Nikon support pages still say the cable was only provided as a promo - back to dealer who said Nikon ignoring his emails.
Nikon customer support refused to pass on complaint to dealer sales or to assist with acquiring the cable.
Nikon still advertising the camera as iPod compatible. Logged on to Nikon site to make a complaint. Turns out complaints just go to tech support. They only accept complaints by post!
However, I called Nikon customer service and kept asking to talk to someone up the chain. Eventually they got fed up with me and agreed to send me an iPod cable direct. This arrived and did indeed work - sort of. Nikon supply and App that is supposed to allow more control of the image(s) projected. It just hung up. After many more emails to Nikon - they said words to the effect that the App will not provide the functionality you require (as if I was asking to much).
I have to say that the dealer hawas helpful but personally I would not buy another Nikon product.
