Product Description

Product Description

Picture shows a young boy dressed in football kit, holding a football and standing in front of a goal. Standing in the goal are the rest of his team.
The COOLPIX L320 delivers amazing image quality in both stills and HD video.

With classic looks and an amazingly powerful zoom, the COOLPIX L320 from Nikon gets close to the action, capturing the smallest details even at astounding distances. This easy to use, versatile camera can shoot more than you ever thought possible. Using the latest in Nikon technology together with a great selection of creative camera settings, the COOLPIX L320 delivers stunning photos and video you’ll want to share.

Telephoto Precision

Thanks to the incredible NIKKOR 26x wide-angle optical zoom ED glass lens and a 16 megapixel CCD image sensor, the COOLPIX L320 is designed to capture outstandingly detailed images. With 22.5–585mm wide-angle to super-telephoto coverage[1] you can shoot sweeping landscapes or distant action with clear precision. Combined with the EXPEED C2 image processing system, High ISO capability (up to 1600) and advanced lens-shift vibration reduction, the COOLPIX L320 ensures bright, steady, pin-sharp frames in any light.

Picture shows a wide-angle view of a children's football team and their coach taken from above.
Wide-angle capability provides maximum flexibility when composing your shot.

Intuitive Operation

The bright 7.5cm (3.0in.) 230k-dot LCD screen with anti-reflective coating allows a clear wide-viewing angle whether shooting in bright sunlight or shadow. Perfect for studying every detail in your photos and movies, you can accurately compose your shots and later view them through playback. With easy-to-navigate menus, a built-in flash and minimal operational buttons, you won’t be fumbling with numerous camera controls when trying to capture that key image. And when you really don’t want to think about a thing, you can shoot in Easy Auto Mode which optimises the camera settings no matter how challenging the situation.

Picture Perfect

With the COOLPIX L320 you can take beautiful pictures in any situation. By selecting one of the 18 Scene Modes that best match your shooting situation, such as Night Portrait, Panorama Assist or Close-Up, you can create amazing looking pictures. When the action speeds up, the Continuous Shooting modes help get you the best possible shot with Best Shot Selector automatically selecting the sharpest image from up to ten sequential shots.

Picture shows a close up view of a tin-plate model car with a model aeropland and a watch in the background.
The incredible 12-element NIKKOR lens covers all bases, including macro.

The Smart Thinking Camera

Providing you with the opportunity to seize the perfect picture in a split second and edit shots on the spot, the in-camera Smart Portrait System includes features which automatically retouch and enhance your photos. Smile Timer takes the shot when your subject smiles, and Red-Eye Fix corrects false eye colour resulting from flash photography. Blink Proof takes two shots and keeps the one in which the subject’s eyes are more open. It even warns you if it saved a picture in which your subject’s eyes may have been closed.

Moving Pictures

With HD video recording you can shoot crisp HD movies and enjoy your creations on a big screen TV with friends and family[2]. Pressing the dedicated movie button will instantly start recording 720p HD video (1280x720) while the built-in microphone captures sounds beautifully.

Picture compares two images of a young football goal-keeper taken at extreme wide-angle and full-telephoto.
An amazing 26x Optical Zoom combined with Lens-Shift Vibration Reduction delivers pin-sharp images even at full zoom.

Share your Portfolio

The COOLPIX L320 offers perfect results and the excellent level of detail guaranteed by the 16 megapixel CCD sensor provides ample resolution for producing large prints worthy of a frame. Connecting your camera to your computer to print or share your images is as simple as plugging in the USB cable provided. You can upload your photos and movies and take advantage of the supplied ViewNX2 image and movie editing software too. Or you can transmit your digital photos (in JPEG format) directly to your phone or personal computer with wireless transfer using an Eye-Fi X2 (or later) card (not included). Either way gives you the option to connect to the Internet and Nikon’s online photo-sharing service, Nikon Image Space.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK machine but lacks some refinement 2 May 2014
I acquired this compact camera recently, at a bargain price through Sainsbury's Click &Collect! My main reason for buing was its brand name - Nikon - you can't go wrong with a world famous maker (can you?) and of course the bargain price (25 less than the current Amazon price). However, I don't think that Sainsbury's have any more left now, so no need to rush down down to your local susperstore...

In use: The camera is pretty straightforward for most people, especially for those wanting to point & shoot in Auto mode, leaving the camera to decide the best exposure in terms of shutter speed and aperture. There are however a number of modes available and I must confess that these are yet to be all tried out. On the basis of the images taken to date, normal indoor photos taken in available light have been of good brightness and sharpness. Out doors in low light, the auto mode took the shutter speed right down - as low as 1/15th sec, which meant that any camera shake was detectable in the final image. Also in low light conditions, focussing was less sharp and the final image also a bit grainy. Finally, in video mode, although the picture quality was highly acceptable (you can record in 720p HD), any refocussing, i.e. to move in closer to the subject, resulted in the autofocus having to 'catch up', leaving a few seconds of out of focus video - not so good when recording something that cannot later be edited out without losing some of the context in the content.

I have been using Duracell AA rechargeable batteries - there is no inbuilt power pack that can be recharged via the cable - these, despite being 2000mAh capacity, ran down in a single session of no more than 20 images and 5 minutes worth of HD video.

5.0 out of 5 stars comes everywhere 6 Nov 2013

I now take this camera everywhere with me and have taken some amazing pictures at music concerts. I'm sure there are better cameras out there, but for a decent picture it is superb. Also love the fact the zoom is sooo good, feels like you can zoom in from miles away and still get a good picture which was the main thing i was after. Only disappointment for me is the sound quality on videos isn't great, but i am very happy with it overall!

Bought this for my son who's 15. Great easy to handle size and not heavy to hold. A great all in one camera and a very reasonable price.

I bought as a back-up and the L320 is a great little camera. I've now got two of them and use it daily for work - about 100-150 pics per day and it's on & off all the time. Perfect for me as, apart from the flash, it is operated fully with one hand although I doubt it would suit a left-hander.
Another advantage for me is the replaceable batteries - I use Lithium type which give anywhere between 1000 and 2500 pics @ 8M setting. Carrying spare sets of batteries means I never get caught out with a 'flat' rechargeable.
Supply and delivery within 48hrs - first class.

So happy with this camera - I did not want something incredibly technical but also wanted a bit more than a point and shoot. This ticks all the boxes.
