So far, so good. HIgh spec, now at a viable price. Useful complement to a DSLR.

Just bought one of these. First impressions are of a solid well made product - although not worth what it was originally priced at. My main reason for purchasing was that like so many people I wanted something I could pocket without the hassle of a camera hanging from my shoulder all day, but at the same time be able to produce good pictures from an APS sensor -which it does. There are some criticisms though. Things that should have been dealt with by Nikon - and could still be in a firmware update - such as allowing the LCD screen to be turned off, which one would want if using the ludicrously priced Optical Viewfinder. The viewfinder should have come with the camera at this price level. This camera is apparently being discontinued but I hope NIKON does not abandon purchasers and rectifies some of the firmware rectifiable problems going forward.

Great picture quality the photos are very sharp, however in low light it hunts....and hunts.....and hunts...and still most of the photos come out blurry, I had all the correct settings, tried full auto mode, firmware upgrade everything but no improvement so returned it after 2 weeks, shame as it would have been ideal for me.

At times it's hard to tell the difference from a DSLR shot and so perfect for the times when you don't feel like lugging your full kit around. Best for considered scenics as the slow focus limits people, action or even kids.

Colour Name: Black Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
IT'S EXPENSIVE THOUGH?
======================
It's not a low end camera. Nikon have decided to go for the top end of the market with this lovely piece of kit.
They have to, to be fair, as most people have instant access to taking quick snapshots with their phones.
This is in a different league.
It is compact. It is solid. It feels and looks expensive.
It has a fixed 18.5mm lens (equivalent to that of 28 mm lens) with exceptional image quality.
And when you switch it on it has a wonderful response.

HAS IT GOT A ZOOM?
==================
No. Not even a digital zoom. It's a simple point and shoot camera. If that's important, then this camera is not for you.
What it does have though, is an ability to take quite astounding photographs.
It has lots and lots of pixels. (over 16 million) That means that the detail is quite remarkable.
So the zoom may not be that important.
You have the ability to trim any photographs.
Personally, I would prefer a digital zoom but I can live without it.

HAS IT GOT A MOVIE MODE?
=======================
Yes. This is one the issues that I have about the camera. It does have a movie mode but it's accessible via a menu. No click-wheel and no option to have easy access to that function. (There are two function buttons that can be re-allocated to functions but movie mode is not one of those options.)
This might simply be a bug bear of mine, as clearly those considering the camera may not actually need, or want the ability to records little movies.
I do like to record little movies. It does a wonderful job. One of it's features is the ability to track the subject.
So I would prefer an easy access option.
Again, I can can live without it.
