Good for every-day use and to bring on holidays. Not bulky. If you need binocular for wildlife close up, choose a stronger one than 8 X 40. Nikon is a trustable brand.

Bought as a present for my Mother. Wanted some entry level, user friendly binoculars for her to use for birdwatching - these came recommended on a number of birdwatching/optics websites. Easy to focus and have a stable, clear image. Fairly compact, but perhaps a bit weighty to carry around on a walk. Excellent value.

Nicely made binoculars suitable for garden bird watching,
By Martin Turner "Martin Turner" (Marlcliff, Warwickshire, England) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 50 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Nikon Action VII 8 x 40 CF Binocular (Electronics)
This is a nice, bright pair of binoculars which are about the right magnification for watching garden birds. This particular type, with the prisms rather than the compact 'straight through' is bulkier but brighter than the straight-through type for a similar price.
These have nice, deep fold back eye-pieces, which means they are ideal for people who wear spectacles. Naturally, you can adjust the diopter if you prefer to take your spectacles off. They come complete with a pair of lens caps and a non-rigid bag. Optical quality is good, as you would expect from Nikon, similar to that of their consumer-targeted camera lenses, though not up to the quality of their premium pro lenses: for that, you would need to go up the Nikon range. They balance nicely in the hand, and are recommended for casual bird-watching or other day-to-day walking around and looking purposes. Specialist types do exist if your needs are more specific.
