I've used countless Nikon speedlights over the years, and from the recent line-up had plenty of professional experience of the SB800 and SB600. Good as they were, the SB700 betters them in so many ways. I much prefer the new control layout, where you can have settings for On, Remote and Master and simply switch between them. The Zoom, Select and Menu buttons are backlit, a feature copied by the brand new D4. The tungsten and fluorescent filters are a useful bonus, and the wide angle diffuser fits happily over them. Remembering the days when electronic flash always topped out at around 1/250th I couldn't quite believe that FP sync would work with wireless lighting but it does, right up to 1/8000th! Plenty of power for today's DSLRs when the ISO can be pushed to 1000 and beyond with little loss of quality or increase in noise. Very happy to take on a wide variety of assignments with a couple of these in my bag. Oh, and mine came with a full printed manual in English.
