I was driven to write this by the review below. Denny Laine went onto better things with Paul McCartney!? That would be Mull of Kintyre I assume. Denny Laine was replaced by John Lodge and Justin Hayward (Justin Hayward wrote this song) and the Moody Blues became one of the biggest bands in the world. This song is one of the greatest songs ever written. There cannot be many people who have not heard it as it gets a great deal of radio play to this day. If you have not then I envy you. You are in for a treat. It was originally released as a single in 1967 but went to No. 1 in the USA in 1972. The year the Moody Blues became the biggest selling rock group in the world. Yes I am a fan of the Moody Blues but that does not make this any less great as a track.

Has to be one of the classics of slow rock music. It is incredible that the Moody Blues endured such scathing criticism in the from music magazines and radio/TV critics when 'Punk was the fashion. Fortunately their American fan base stayed loyal. What 'Punk' song could hold a candle to this epic?

It's certainly a classic. Whilst I thought that the other reviewer was being a little petty re. the intro being the end of the previous track in the collection. However, after downloading, I have to agree, it does spoil it a bit as does the abrupt ending. Still a lovely song though.

I wanted something from the early 70's to play as one of my 'Desert Island disc' choices at a village hall last week. Beautifully nostalgic!

Excellent song, shame it's part of a mix as this means getting the first 10sec of some other track right at the start.

This is a great song, I think their best. Aside from the fact it is 'our song', it's music and story are superb too.
