More About the Author

Michelle Hughes grew up as a military brat and now calls Verbena, Alabama home. Her love of romance began early in life when she would sneak her granny's bodice rippers into the bathroom for great plots to play out with her Barbie's. She's the mother of five great kids and married to the greatest fisherman on earth with a real job. Prior to a career in writing, Michelle was a singer/songwriter and hosted a televised talent showcase long before American Idol became popular.

Her favorite place in the world is New Orleans and she hopes to own a vampire nightclub there when her children are grown. She's written sixteen contemporary romances and enjoys penning young innocent women meeting strong alpha males that rock their world. Steamy, sensual, and happily ever after, that's what Hughes lives for in her world of romance.

Southern Hospitality is very important to Michelle, even in the world of literature. She's always willing to help new authors. Find out more by visiting www.tearsofcrimson.com

1.0 out of 5 stars Appalling writing spoils passable tales 27 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read four of the five tales but could not stomach reading the last one. The stories are passable, all involving a virgin and a very rich and/or powerful man, usually about 10 years older than the heroine. There is usually some sad issue afflicting the heroine and indeed the hero but the redemptive power of love prevails just in time before the book ends. Heaven bless repetitious stories as I did not have to pay close attention all the time but still managed to follow the narrative no matter which title I was reading.

These stories are not meant to be funny but the endless parade of misused words ( "depreciatively" for "deprecatingly", "an institution of hiring learning"), an inability to use tenses correctly ("had went" for "had gone"), many, many typos and calling her characters by the wrong name, led to much hilarity in my household. My partner at one point suggested she learned to write in another language as she clearly could not write in English.

It is lazy writing to inflict such careless work on a reader, especially a paying reader, as bad as a poorly finished garment. A spellchecker is a basic requirement but is only useful if the writer wants to get it right. In Michelle Hughes' case, she needs a copy editor to turn these pigs' ears into something approximating good writing. As it is, others have commented previously on her poor writing but she clearly does not care enough to take any pride in her work and have some consideration towards her readers.

1.0 out of 5 stars Innovative stories 9 Dec. 2013
By Creader
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
That, I'm afraid, is the best that can be said about this series of books.
I don't think I have ever read anything so carelessly written. Nearly every page had an error that was hard to overlook.
People were called by the wrong names, in fact Scarlett suddenly became 'Leigh', a character that wasn't even in the book. A spell checker isn't going to help this author because the words are actually spelled correctly, just they are the WRONG words. A thesaurus might help.
If I listed everything, I would be writing a book myself. I do have to mention one though, as it made me laugh out loud. A husband is said to be suffering from 'impedance' rather than impotence! It typifies everything that is in this selection.
As a reader I feel insulted by the way the author has been so cavalier in her attitude. People pay to read, so it is wrong to present writing of this quality, or lack of, when some proofreading could prevent this happening.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good story lines 29 Mar. 2014

I enjoyed the story lines but really fed up of the amount of mistakes in each book, this doesn't normally bother me too much but it was so constant with names being mixed up then wrong words used constantly made it quite frustrating

1.0 out of 5 stars Uugh!! 27 Feb. 2014

Sad to say after 50 years of being totally enamoured of most types of books for the very first time I found myself wondering why on earth I was reading this series. I didn't finish it! I like a book with a good story line and certainly enjoy a raunchy read but I found myself asking why on earth people write such, for the want of a better word, "trash". Weak story lines and gratuitous sex. Not worth reading. Im no prude by any means but simply found this set to be too strong for my tastes. It advertised "5 steamy romances" and I was looking forward to just that but simply found this series just sad. Must be getting old!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not an altogether bad read, but... 20 Dec. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read this book knowing the reviews and have to agree mostly with people's reviews. The story lines have promise, but mostly failed to produced. Aside from the general grammar and spelling errors, getting names wrong, each book just seemed to be lacking and rushed in places and followed similar story lines. I believe these books could be so much more. Description advises BDSM themes, but it's not a major focal point in the stories.

For an easy read and the cheap price for the books, I'd say read it, just don't expect to much.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not good 10 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
These books wasn't for me. I don't like bondage and hitting style of romances and I just couldn't get into them. I did read all of them apart from the last one, I Just couldn't take anymore. The first book was the best of the lot and I would give 2 stars because of it.
