5.0 out of 5 stars Jolly good show old chaps., 23 Sep 2008
An incredible second album and always a difficult one to produce, particularly if you are trying to surpass an acclaimed debut, so considering the first Metronomy album was so fantastic - although a little rough round the edges - these guys have really proved themselves as talented musicians. 'Nights Out' is not the most innovative album and I do draw comparisons to Hot Chip; being within the a similar genre and with the comedic undertones, but this does give the music a warm jovial feel. Combining this warmth with the funky melodies it creates a truly wholesome sound, what more could you want? Great stuff and can't wait to hear more from this band.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed, 19 Sep 2008

(REAL NAME)
Bought this album after seeing them play a stonking set at this years Latitude festival. Was really excited about this album but feel a bit let down because it just all sounds the same. Tracks 2,4 and 6 are stand out for me. Im not saying this is a bad album, far from it. Its well produced and gets a bit of a foot tap from me. If your looking for a stand out dance album try The Presets instead.

2.0 out of 5 stars Miss-led by reviews, 7 Oct 2008
By Andy Lloyd (Northampton, UK) - See all my reviews
i was looking forward to listening to this album and was soon met with dissappointment, annoying sounds and areas of the album where i simply had to turn it down where bits sounded out of tune or out of sync with the song.

There are 2 tracks that i genuinely like, but on the whole i think its just another one of them bleepy electro pointless albums, with noises in the sort of people who worship Rough Trade will think are cool, but when you actually stop and listen, no its not, its rubbish.

That's what I think pretty much of this album, with the catchy loops and the clever lyrics. Well they may not be that clever, but I like them :) The songs without the lyrics are... Read more

i was never really in to metronomy but this album is a big progression and gives you a CD full of well written songs and amazing production.
