Putting into consideration the mediocre score produced for "Nightmare 3" composed by Angelo Badalamneti, Craig Safan has sucessfully revived the Nightmare score collection with the creepy, atmospheric score for the 1988 horror sequel "Nightmare 4"
The score has everything, rhytm, sound effects and melodies, bass, bridges and themes. You name it, this soundtrack has it.
I would refer to this one as,the most creepiest score since Charles Bernstien's score for "Nighmare 1" As soon as you hear "Kristen's Haunted Dream" you are completeley submerged into the world of The Dream Master.
I would say, every peice of music on this score is sucessfull, but as such, it has mostly good highlights to the collection.
Tracks such as "Shelia Sucks Face" is quite disturbing. The sucess of Charles Bernstien's melody has been carried throughout, in tracks such as "Freddy's Back" and the heavenly end of "Corpus Kruger" defeats any hints of evil tones heard within the 30 minute score.
Quite a few tracks are intense the "Debbie Checks In/Time Circles" is very un-nerving. However, tracks such as "Freddy's Callipoe" and "Fredd's Pizza Restaurant" offer a comdedic feel, parting from the disturbing essence heard through the entirety of the soundtrack.
With a synthesizer at Safan's disposal, he made sure to include as many effective tones as possible, actually you can get a feel of experimentation during the process of creating the score.
This score has so much to it, but has been given so little praise. One of the best of the original nightmare series.
A complete sucess.
