First I should say that this underhand practice of re-naming and re-packaging films to piggy back of the anticipated release of a new film in this case "Shark Night 3D" really, really annoys me!..................Having said that.
This made for T.V mini series was originally released in 2008 under the title Shark Swarm, a fact that is mnade painfully clear when starting the film in your player (they didn't even bother to change the main menu screen to read Night of the Shark! what does that tell you? Quickly repackaged and quickly circulated to make a quick buck!
The sad thing is, apart from the slightly dubious CGI Sharks, and the fact that along the way a shed load of people who we have never seen before seem to be out swimming or diving for no other reason than to be eaten by sharks, this is not as bad as people have made out. The story revolves around a developer played BY Armand assante in his usual muted but cool way who is converting landmarks into tourist traps. To ensure that the people of Full Moon Bay sell up he poisons the surrounding waters with Industrial waste to kill off the fishing industry and their businesses. Enter strange behaviour of sharks hunting in packs (for no apparent reason other than being a little p'ssed at having waste dumped into the ocean) and you have, along with a long drawn out Eco Warrior and save the earth story line the whole premis of this film.
As I said it's not the worst shark film you will ever see, but it's certainly not the best, and if you thought the special effects in jaws were a little ropey then this film will be a real eye opener for you. All I can say is I can think of alot worse movies to sit through, but I would wait until it arrives at a bargain bin near you.
Or maybe until it is re-packaged and re-released under some other title relating to a soon to be released shark orientated film.
