5.0 out of 5 stars A girls' sacrifice for her SOULMATE 12 Feb 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
A very detailed and considerate installment into the series, Lisa has continued the spellbinding storyline(Nightworld)and has still managed to give Enchantress the strength of an individual and independent story. Thea, Blaise and Eric are detailed and emotive characters, that portray nearly every aspect of human nature, the good and the bad. I would recommend Nightworld books (2, 6, 7, 8)since they are so addictive and hard to put down! I also would like to voice my query about the whereabouts of Strange Fate as i would like to know if I will ever get the chance to finish the series!! It seems to have vanished off the face of the earth. If anybody has read please let me KNOW!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of her best! 28 May 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This is one of the best Nightworld books along with Huntress. Although of course they're all brilliant! L.J.Smith has a magical ability to addict you to all of her books, like only a few other authors I find her books becoming almost like a drug to me, where I must find the next in the series! This book is set apart as the characters are developed so well, and Eric is not arrogant! Yet at the same time he is strong in his own way (every book I've read lately had an arrogant male in it, I was starting to think that the whole of the male race were this way) Thea, is also strong yet gentle, and wise. Blase I especially liked, as she wasn't portrayed as just selfish, she did genuinely want to help her cousin and you have to respect her for that. One last thing, why oh why hasn't Strange fate come out yet! I presume the wild powers saved us in the millennium otherwise we still wouldn't be here. Mind you, there are people who believe the true Millennium is next year.........

5.0 out of 5 stars One good witch, one bad witch, one human boy. 13 Jan 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
She's beautiful and deadly. She can have any boy she wants, and when Eric Ross threatens the saftey of Blaise Harman's closest cousin, she wants revenge. Thea didn't mean to fall in love with Eric Ross. It's against all of the Night World laws to feel anything but hatred for humans, but how can it be wrong to love your soulmate? And when Thea's cousin Blaise tries to protect her by using witch power and fatal beauty, Thea wonders if she can save both herself and her only love from Blaise and the Night world. ~~~ It was great. I loved the characters. Eric's little sister is brilliant.

If you thought that it would be a hard feat for Lisa J. Smith to overcome her triumphs of the first two night world books, and come up with a brilliant third one too, then you were wrong! This is one of my favourite Night World books, and it has taken me ages to get a copy of it, until I came to Amazon

3.0 out of 5 stars Clunky but Enjoyable 27 Jun 2006
By Scriber_scouse VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback
Book three of the Night World explores the witches heirarchy and introduces two cousins Thea and Blaise Harman, both from the illustrious Hearthwoman witch line that can be traced back to the first witch society. Blaise and Thea are great characters and Blaise is very reminiscent of Faye the bad witch of the Secret Circle trilogy. She vies for human boys' attention and plays with them until she gets bored or she and Thea are expelled from school and shipped off to new relatives.

The witchy section of the Night World is set up beautifully and the female protagonists are strong but this falls down with the introduction of Thea's soulmate Eric who is very bland and All American boy, Smith is at her best writing teen bad boys. When Blaise makes a play for Eric, Thea has to stop her but unwittingly unleashes a dark spirit when a spell goes wrong, leaving humans at risk, so with the help of Eric she tries to put things right. Thea must decide whether to turn her back on her heritage for the chance at love.

This installment is a bit of a clunker, although it passes the time nicely and sets up the Night World notion of a third circle, Circle Twilight for both humans and the supernatural races. However, this has plot holes fit to drive a truck through; why would any family banish a teenage girl to fend for herself? Who honestly believes that Eric's mom is going to be turning cartwheels at taking in a strange girl? I suppose I should be more willing to suspend my disbelief on these points if I'm willing to acknowledge the supernatural elements. With a more charming male lead this would probably be a four star as the plotting and pace is sound, but a ho-hum lack of chemistry leaves this simmering on three.
