Listen to this with headphones on after a banging night out and you will be blown away. So well produced and deeply dark and twisted, perfect for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Break your face 15 Sep 2003
Format:Audio CD
Ah it was nice for a while, hard grafting underground dance duo burst through into the charts with a track. Well even though the bootleg form of Love Story (vs Finally) was a bit awful, it was nice to see Layo & Bushwacka out there and recognised for a bit.
Night Works is album #2 for this duo, and a piece of class it IS. Although no obvious Deep South on this album (from the earlier album Low Life), there are many stunning moments for us mortals. Now Night Works can be found in two different versions, the vinyl release of this contained the FULL DJ versions of tracks such as Love Story (the version we hear actually begins at the breakdown halfway through the track ... the DJ version begins off as a dirty little tech house groover!), Let The Good Times Roll (again really edited down so that it starts on the CD at what is the final breakdown on the vinyl) etc. Reasoning for this I assume is to create a CD that flows as a listening CD. The tracks kinda blend into each other, to create a continually flowing mood. Up tempo tracks like We Meet At Last, Shining Through, Let The Good Times Roll, All Night Long show the duo's skill at funky breaks productions. Made For the dancefloor with the roots in early 90's rave. Listen to how Love Story is based around the classic rave stabby sound and chord progression, but is used in a blues meets house context. Wicked vision. L&B tracks have been rocking dancefloors for ages, this is just a little glimpse into that.
On Low Life, I found the downtempo tracks let things down a bit, its nice that here they're much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nightworks is amazing! 2 July 2002
Format:Audio CD
Well, we've been waiting for this for a while now, and it's been worth it! This is an album that demands to be listened to from beginning to end as a continuous piece of music. The tracks neatly segue into each other, and it is clear that much time has been taken over their order on the CD. This is one of the few CDs that, upon finishing listening to it for the first time, I immediately pressed play again and listened to the whole thing through without taking a break. If you're a fan of electronic music and aren't looking for constant 4 to floor, you'll love this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Night Works 5 July 2002
Format:Audio CD
Simply fantastic. One of the best albums ive ever heard, can't get enough of Layo & Bushwacka - saw them at homelands and they blew me away, this CD is a good representation of their live performance and covers a sassy array of breakbeat and house, ranging from the ultimate chill to the full on stompathon! Genius
