Book Description

A desperate hunt for a missing child ... A chilling novel of suspense from a NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author

Product Description

Deer Lake is a small Minnesota town where people know their neighbours and crime is something that happens on the evening news. But the illusion of safety is shattered when eight-year-old Josh Kirkwood disappears. All the police find is his duffel bag with a note stuffed inside, 'Ignorance is not innocence but SIN'. With each passing hour the search for Josh takes on a more ominous intensity. For Megan O'Malley, the new regional officer of the state criminal investigative unit, it is a test of whether she can cut it in the all-male world of local cops. And for police chief Mitch Holt, it is a frightening reminder of the big city crime that devastated his life before he fled to Deer Lake ...

I first heard of Night Sins when I saw it on BBC as a two part thriller. It was absolutely brilliant but since, after contacting the BBC, I found it was not available in video format, I opted for the book. It is a good as the film, which I might add, was followed almost to the word by the T.V. series. A great book, even if it is a little long. Buy it, you are guranteed a great read.

I got recommended Tami Hoag, as a mix of Patricia Conwell and Barbara Taylor Bradford. This is not far off. Each book has the same principle, hard female character battling against the world, and a strong male character, sex and relationship will they won't they, as well as the plot on the dark side of crime. And Night Sins is no exception. I had about 4 or 5 characters that I thought may have kidnapped Josh, but the twist at the end WOW! And when you get to the end, their is a sequal, must read!!

A brilliant story. Hoag has a well-developed ability to relate both facts and pathos. An emotional roller-coaster.
