Book Description

On a bright September morning in 1939, two days after Britain has declared war, a group of privileged but desperate people gather in Southampton to board the largest, most luxurious airliner ever built - the Pan American Clipper, bound for New York: an English aristocrat, fleeing with his family and a fortune in jewels; a German scientist, escaping from the Nazis; a murderer under FBI escort; a young wife running away from a domineering husband; and a handsome, unscrupulous thief . . . I read this book about 10 years ago, in hardback format, and found it incredibly terrific, couldn't put it down. It was the first Ken Follett that I had read, and since then have had the pleasure to read a great many more of his novels.
He is a wonderful author, and all of his books, keep me intrigued.
As has been mentioned in other reviews the Boeing 314, run by Pan Am, must have been a truly great aircraft in its day, as were the crews.
To all of those browsing, and considering getting the KIndle edition of this novel, I would recommend it, you will enjoy, I promise you.
This truly is a great story,

"Night over water"'s unique characters, easy language, interesting plot and setting makes it very enjoyable to read. If you want something "light" to read, this should be your choice.

Loved It
A great book and a great way to learn all about the Boeing 314 which would have been an amazing plane in its time. It's sad that none of these planes are now in existence. Read more

Oh dear Mr. Follett!!
Ken Follett has a tendency to spoil an otherwise very good book by having a banal, conventional ending - but Night Over Water Water was banal right from the start. Read more

This is every bit as nail-bitingly tense and fast-moving as Eye of the Needle although very different and you can't help but be gripped by the ever changing twists in the story. Read more
