4.0 out of 5 stars Strong beginning, essential background info for Modesty fans, 1 Jan 2001
By A Customer
For those who wonder how The Network was run, who was in it and how it was dismantled, this book is for you. Demonstrating once again why Modesty and Willie are the best one-two punch in modern fiction, we learn how an over-ambitious but highly-skilled rookie enters into and is rejected by the silky-smooth machine that was The Network. As "Morningstar" obsesses over this humbling experience through the years, opportunity finally presents itself for turnabout, which he pursues while engaged in typically heinous criminal activity. O'Donnell's themes that master criminals are often undone by their passions are well on display, here. If you ever wondered how Modesty came across her kongo, don't look any further.
