Kuki Gallmann loves her life on her own private game ranch and she writes vividly of the colours and the daily life in the bush. From reading this book I became part of this harsh land and the sights, sounds and smells were quite vivid. She has obviously suffered a great deal but through the love and attention of her lover Aidan is able to make the reader part of her extended family. Parts of this book are repeated from her other books "I Dreamed of Africa" and "African Nights" without detracting from the impact that she brings across, that Africa and her beloved Kenya are harsh and only by bringing the problems of lack of education towards conservation to a wider audience will the wild animals stand any chance of survival for future generations.

The incidents portrayed in this book are very exciting. For anyone who loves Africa this book is fascinating and I couldn't put it down. However having read 'I Dreamed of Africa' recently, I was disappointed that this one was shorter and a lot of the content had been covered in 'I Dream of Africa'.

I went to sleep dreaming of the landscape and wildlife. Africa can certainly get under your skin. It is also an amzingly frank account of the joys and pains which the author endured and which shaped the way she moved forward with her life.
