I bought this globe to help with home educating my two children. It's great for teaching the kids where all the places in the world are, I find it much easier to use than an atlas, although we do sometimes us the atlas as a reference for more detail. What made us buy this particular one was the idea of being able to see, at any time of day or night, what other countries were experience day or night, and the dusk/dawn line we found particularly interesting, watching it slowly move round the world. There are two points which let it down though. The main one is the noise. I wanted to leave it plugged into the mains so we could refer to it at any time. However, the motor is SO noisy, we found after two hours we had to turn it off, and now whenever we want to look at the day/night feature we have to reset all the date and time etc. as this all stops when you turn off the motor. The light isn't bright enough to show up in daylight, which means you can only really refer to this feature after dark, or else close all the blinds in the house and work in darkness!!! In addition to both these points, Antarctica is missing from the globe as this area is taken up by the black disc that turns the globe. All in all, a great idea, lovely clear globe but the day/time thing is a bit of a disappointment and could do with some improvement to stop the noise, and improve its visibility during daylight. Probably wouldn't recommend it until this has been done.
