I'm not sure that I can fully express my disappointment in this product. My son loves In the Night Garden, and I couldn't wait for the products to be released. Today, his Makka Pakka bath toy arrived only to discover that it is simply a hard plastic shell that you dump water into. I have seen plastic watering cans for 50p that are better made than this item. For a bath toy, I would normally expect something pliable and that you can squeeze not this hard plastic that will simply not move or bend in any shape or form. I'm not even sure what sort of enjoyment my son is supposed to get with this toy. There is no educational or play value that I can locate in this toy, and I have worked in education for many years now. In the advert it mentions let Makka Pakka wash your face...I'd certainly like to know how that is possible. I must also point out that in the description it also does not mention that it is for 18 months or older. So that is worth noting as well. My advice? Save your money, buy the DVDs or something, but steer clear of these products. I definitely won't be trusting any others in the line with the pathetic nature of this one.

Given that Makka Pakka is famous for washing other characters faces with his sponge and soap, they seem to be an obvious oversight to this "toy". You definitely get the impression that the design of this item has simply not been thought about for more than 30 seconds. I hate to say it but it looks to be a very poorly thought out and cynical attempt to simply cash in on what is an amazingly beautiful childrens programme. Makka-Pakka is of very average quality and possibly as un-entertaining as any bath toy can possibly be made. In fact it's fair to say that far from being a toy, he's just a water-proof Makka-Pakka with a few holes in him for water to run through. It's a real shame for the Night Garden is adored in this house yet and given the exceptionally poor reviews of the other Night Garden toys, I will be giving them all a very wide berth. .

I urge anyone wishing to buy into the range of toys supporting this brilliant programme to think very carefully before dishing out the dosh. I've already bought the ninky nonk which proved functionally hopeless (the carriages kept falling apart). This bathroom toy is just as bad. A cheap plastic moulding that's worth a fiver a best. Hasbro have really blown it this time. Their premium pricing for lousy product might generate short-term profit but there'll be few repeat sales and I can't imagine any of my friends buying these items as presents for other kids.
