Product Description

"2007, I was supporting America at Hammersmith Apollo, two Beach Boys and George Martin stood there watching me, I thought; how did I get here…" Andy Steele has already supported a wealth of artists including; Roxy Music, Turin Breaks, The High Llamas, America and The Strawbs. On top of this the album features the talents of members of Echo & The Bunnymen, Turin Breaks, The High Llamas and fiddle player Hannah Peel. A heartfelt, introspective and mesmerising record, it's not a love story but the memory of a love story, played out on a mid-summers night in the wilderness and Andy has called upon a wealth of talented Musicians who have been more than happy to feature both on record and live.

After the fantastic Muddyhead album and the bit disappointing album True believers......Andy's back with again another direction, more folk/western like with fiddle and banjo.

I heard Andy Steele supporting America a few years back and enjoyed his performance so much I bought his "True Believers And The Guises Of The Weasel" CD after the show. I was not disappointed with that CD and am glad that he is back with "Night Fishing". He's a hard guy to catagorise, which commercially may count against him, but I think he will appeal to fans of folk and americana; in places this is not far from the Mumford & Sons sound. Not a bad track on either CD so if you enjoy this go and find his "True Believers And The Guises Of The Weasel" CD which is just as good. He seems to be quite a nice guy as well so give him a listen!

Having been a fan of Mr Steele for a while now, it's wonderful to know that 'Night Fishing' is out for others to discover. There's a folky feel and warm, glowing musical ambience to the tracks on the album which are elevated by Steele's terrific, different and attentive to detail songwriting.

In addition, there are players from the High Llamas on drums and guitar, fiddles, piano, banjo, cittern and pedal steel (most the latter played brilliantly by Steel himself).

This album is highly recommended - I bet if you bought yourself a copy, you'd be buying them for friends, it's that kind of record.
