Album Description
Out All Night is the debut album from the unique Scottish act, Findlay Napier and The Bar Room Mountaineers. Hailing from a 'folk' background seems to make it easy to pigeonhole most bands, but certainly not this one. The band comprises Findlay Napier on vocals and guitar, Douglas Millar on keyboards, backing vocals, and assorted samples, Paul Jennings on cajon, assorted percussion and backing vocals, and Gillian Frame on violin and backing vocals. This instrumentation makes them a must see live band, filled with energy and vibrancy. Somewhat unusually, Out All Night (produced by the multi-talented Angus Lyon) has captured this energy perfectly. The band draws on a wide range of musical influences including bluegrass, country, funk and folk, with the occasional bit of punk thrown in for good measure. If you were to think, Loudon Wainwright’s unparalleled story telling, meets the tightness of Nickel Creek, with a distinctive Scottish twist, you would be getting warm!

This is a really great album - filled with intricate harmonies, great rhythms, amazing arrangements and lots of Scot's spirit! I would recommend this album to anyone who enjoys acoustic/folk/new country/bluegrass as it cleverly combines a mixture of all these great styles! The violin, guitar, piano and percussion parts create gorgeous layers, while the lead vocals by Napier can be both soothing and passionately upfront!
