Equal parts joyous and introspective - a strange combination that works in this case. Some of the compositions are so overblown that an awful lot of people will dismiss this album instantly as just so much fluff. They might not be too far off the mark but when Jens catches you in the right frame of mind (this could require medication) you might just get swept up on a wave of sweet sentiment and tender emotion. [Group hug]

The album also has a song that rhymes bingo with zingo and Ringo (as in Starr) - hats off.

I've been listening to this album for a couple of months (usually while my wife is out of the room - in the interest of balance I have to add that she finds the album depressing and monotonous). There are some really wonderful, humourous and warm songs that manage to avoid sounding too twee or quirky. Like 'You're so silent...' the music complements the lyrics well. On the downside, the child singing during 'It was a strange time in my life' is very irritating, while 'Your arms around me' owes a heavy debt to R.E.M's 'Near wild heaven'. However, songs like 'the opposite of hallelujah' and 'Friday night at the drive in bingo' are original and uplifting, and seem to only get better each time I listen to them.

I discovered this amazing artist thanks to the film, Whip It, that has three of Lekman's songs in it.

Quirky, funny, odd, joyful, are all words that can describe this amazing album. So glad i discovered this little gem.

'Arms around you' is a gorgeous song, that swims around in your head days after you've heard it!
Also great is 'the opposite of hallelujah' and 'Friday night at the drive-in bingo', But my personal favourite is 'Shirin' about a favourite hairdresser! It really is an absolute peach and is like being wrapped up in a blanket of pure joy!

Do yourself a favour and give Jens a try. You won't regret it!
