Must have !!! 4 Nov. 2001
By marc Zavala - Published on
Format: Audio CD
This is probably the most underrated "80's Metal" album of the decade. Unfortunately this band never received the proper promotion from their record company as they should have, primarly due to the fact that Capitol records had no clue as to how to market Metal music back in the 1980's and to dismay of millions who made bands like Crue, Def Leppard, Ratt and the Scorpions household names, Icon just never got the credit they deserved.
There isn't one bad song on this album, Icon was blessed with two phenomenal guitar players and a great "Metal" vocalist (Stephen Clifford) who eventually left the band to find religion.
The sound is incredible due to the production of Eddie Kramer (KISS, Hendrix, Beatles) and mixing by Ron Nevison (UFO,Heart,KISS). These guys were a cut above the rest in their song writing abilities, check out "Danger Calling", "Naked Eyes" and "Shot at my heart" these tunes should have been AOR staples around the country, they also show off their incredible double-lead playing on "Out for blood" and "Whites of their eyes", "Missing" is a conceptual piece which may have been a prelude for the entire album.
I originally bought this one on vinyl and damned if it isn't one of the best rock albums ever made.

One of the Greatest Hard Rock Albums of All Time 4 July 2000
By Charles Ferrara Jr. - Published on
Format: Audio CD
If you like Hard Rock, Icon was probably the most unpromoted band that should have made the big time. Very Talented Artist and Tasteful Rock. Definitely check this album out. Singer has an awsome voice and guitarist can really flail.

Icon deserved better.... 9 Jun. 2006
By Scott A. Pickett - Published on
Format: Audio CD
I actually bought this on Cassette back in 1985 upon it's release.I had never heard of them,as Camden,Arkansas is not exactly a metal haven for unknown bands.I was blown away with the first listen!Icon was much more polished than several of the "Big Name" metal bands of that time.I'm not sure why they never made it,but what a shame.I now have all of their CD's (4 in all)including the 1984 Live Bootleg, which should be for diehard fans only, but "Night of The Crime" should rank at the top of any true Hard Rock/Metal fans wish list. Also, check out their debut cd because it is a little more heavy, but still very good.if you enjoy music like Icon,be sure to check out anything by Black'n'Blue,as they were also underappreciated. This cd by Icon is a true "unknown" classic! Enjoy!

a great band that fell through the cracks 7 Mar. 2005
By C. Mullins - Published on
Format: Audio CD
Icon had some great music. This one was more radio friendly than the first self titled record. I'm not going to lie to you and say every song is killer, there's a few cheesy ones, but over 3/4 of the album stands on it's own.

This band wrote catchy hooks, and probably due to falling in the pop metal catagory, their guitar players never got credit for actually being able to rip it up. One was John Aquilino, I believe the other was Dan Wexler, who I think is the same guy you see his name popping up on a lot of studio playing, and song writing with some well known superstars.

I would say the timing was all wrong for this band, they were very marketable, if anything because they put out some quality songs, but around the mid 80's, everybody and their brother were getting a record deal. This band, and Black N Blue, are two that definitely deserved more notoriety than they received.

Pure 80's Metal! Alive with Fun and Energy of the 80's! 12 Mar. 2005
By Bass player Brad - Published on
Format: Audio CD
This 2nd Icon album is not as good as their first one,but it is still a great album despite that. The sound has changed a bit here from there first one. There is a more polished production job and some use of keyboards in several songs. The talent is flawless though, these guys could play and the singer has a great voice.

1.Naked Eyes(8/10)Good album opener.Has keyboards use in this one.Nice song!

2.Missing(7/10)Just as good as the first track.A bit more mellow in the ballad style with this song.More minor keyboard use.

3.Danger Calling(10/10)A furious and very catchy rockin song. The guitar riffs are very memorable.A great chorus line on this one!

4.Shot at my Heart(8/10)Solid rocker with more great guitar work and smooth vocals!

5.Out for Blood(10/10)Starts out as an instrumental and then kicks into pure energy and fire starting excitment! This track is a suberb song.

6.Raise the Hammer(9/10)Another great chorus and cool guitar work on this one.

7.Frozen Tears(8/10)Ballad of the cd.A great song.Slow and has more talented guitar work.

8.Whites of their Eyes(10/10)Amazing song! The guitars and vocals are very forceful. This is one song you must hear!

9.Hungry for Love(10/10)Best song on the album.Your 80's metal collection is not complete without this song!

10.Rock My Radio(9/10)An arena rock anthem attempt.Sounds good and has more involving guitar work.

This cd is a must for any metal listener or someone who just likes good music from a time when music was done right,The 80's!

This album is worth every penny you spend on it.It's a must have! You'll be rockin it in your radio all night long!
