At first sight this record may seem as an insignificant production in the row of Oscar Peterson's many records. But it is really surprising, what this trio can create ! NHØP, the world famous bass player, illuminates the whole record with the round and cosy sound of his bass-play. In cooperation with the well considered improvisations of Oscar Peterson, NHØP creates a challenging piece of music that certainly deserves a greater reputation. Nevertheless there is one disturbing aspect of the record. Terry Clark (the drummer) "drowns" in the vast sound, which the other two manage to create. Of course Clark is making a tight groove, which the record couldn't do without, but as the other two dominate the compositions, the obvious importancy of Terry Clarke may seem a little vague. But then again...What a circus if all three of them made an effort to dominate the compositions !!!! The first track of the CD (composed by Peterson) is rather surprising. The melody and the harmonies are slightly inspired by "A Night in Tunisia", but suddenly the composition morphs into a more modern style -still with the spirit and signature of Oscar Peterson. The second track, "Au Privave", is really impressive. The nice Be-Bop style suites the trio very well and thus there are numerous brilliant improvisations to be found on this track. This record and the trio really "...Look Good to Me".
