we bought ours from John Lewis. The lid warped within a month, very frustrating. I took it back to the shop, who were evidently aware of the issue because Nigella had prepped them with a whole batch of extra lids, apparently in expectation of my (and others') visits. I took the new lid home but this warped within only a few days. Life then became too short so I took the whole thing back for a refund, readily given. Shame, because it looks lovely - but with a warped lid, it's pointless!

Reluctant though I am to add to Nigella's millions, I have to admit that this is the best bread-bin on the market. The lid doubles up as a cutting board, and it fits tightly enough for bread to last longer than usual. It's a pretty colour and a sensible shape, as you can fit two loaves in with ease. The price is ridiculous, but then having had three others all of which were hopeless I suppose it is worth it.

This product Nigella Lawson Living Kitchen Bread Bin Beech/Cream has been poorly made, having a rough base which would undoubtedly scratch a worktop surface. The colour is yellow which is not the colour shown in the online picture. For these reasons the item was returned. "Sweatband" who shipped the item do not consider that these points constitute "faults" and therefore refuse to refund heafty postage costs. I have no faith in either Sweatband as a seller nor did I believe that Nigella Lawson would choose to sponsor such a poorly made breadbin.

It looks great, it feels great and it does the job. It fits all our bread, rolls, cookies etc (we are 2 but i'd say would work for a family of 4, if you use it only for bread). It is of quite a size. We have a relative small counter so it takes some space. On the other hand one saves space in fridge and cupboards. The lid functions as a cutting board which is great. My girlfriend would give it 3 stars :) because she thought it was too big but she got used to it. I give it 5 also because of the reduced price and fast delivery from amazon. Not a fan of nigella and the rest of the series. This is designed by Conran.

This is a lovely bread bin, but even with regular oiling and maintainance of the lid, it warps....this sadly means that the product is just an over priced ceramic pot.

I bought this despite the price and the bad reviews regarding the lid simply because I loved the look of it and it matched my kitchen perfectly and as a family of 5, I need a bigger style bin. So I was eager to see what it was like when it arrived.
I inspected probably a little more than I would have prior to reading the other reviews. The lid was definately not of a quality you would expect for this price (the wood was rough to the touch like it hadn't been finished properly) The main bin does not sit straight on the work top (it wobbles slightly because the base is not flat). At first I thought it must be a second because the price was so much cheaper than the high street. But before I returned it, I checked out a supply in a big High Street shop and found the quality to be much worse than my amazon one, so despite all my minor moans decided to keep it (as the postage back would have cost a fortune). Although I won't use the lid as a chopping board.

I loved this breadbin as it looks lovely and is excellent for a family of 5. HOWEVER... I noticed the lid had started to warp. At first I just hoped I was imagining it (as I'd seen the reviews), but it got worse and the wood started to crack in the middle.

Last week I got sent a replacement lid and ALREADY the new lid has warped even more than the original one. The finish of the wood on the second lid is very rough, unlike the first one.

I'm now very disappointed with this breadbin, as its no good. I'll need a new lid every week!

I'm loving my Nigella bread bin. I ummmed and ahhhed for a while over spending £50 on a bread bin. But I took the plunge on the basis that I can fit 2 loaves in it. I'm really pleased with it. It's so roomy and I can fit loads in, a loaf of bread, some crumpets, rolls etc. so it does exactly what I wanted. It's also takes up less room than you'd think as it's tall rather than wide. The lid hasn't warped yet but I don't think I'd mind if it did as I'm sure it'll still look pretty darn stylish in my kitchen.
