This is the first item I bought from the Living Kitchen range over a year ago and I must say I love it, it comes out almost daily, not just for chopping herbs, but for anything whoich needs to be finely chopped when getting the food processor out is just too much washing up! I haven't had to worry about keeping it sharp and mine is used very often and has been for a long time.

I would really advise buying the matching board too, as the size of it is so convenient and the mezzeluna fits perfectly into the scooped out middle.

This mezzaluna is equipped with a wonderfully sharp blade, which is much longer (wider) than others I've seen and therefore better for larger amounts of herbs. It also deals very well with small quantities. The handles fit comfortably in the palm of your hand and the rocking motion to chop the herbs is quite intuitive, even if you're starting out on a flat board (i.e. haven't bought the matching beech board.) I had never used a half-moon blade like this before but found it very easy to pick up.

I bought this because I chop a lot of herbs for home cookery but have RSI-type wrist injuries and I found using a knife painful. This is a wonderful solution for me as the wrist action is very different - I guess it comes from the shoulders or elbows and less stress is put on the wrists.

As I stated the blade is very sharp but there are no instructions on how to keep it sharp. I may ask advice from a chef if I notice it get blunt.

Top quality, extremely sharp, can be used for all sorts of jobs, not just herbs. (Note the accompanying chopping board is pretty rubbish though - cheap quality and not much better than an ordinary one).

I have been using this for a while and find that it makes very light work of chopping herbs - much easier than rocking a knife, which was my previous technique. I have not bought the matching board as I find that a normal chopping board works well, although I imagine a board with the dip would be easier again (particularly when chopping spring onions etc).

I have owned similar items in the past and found that they did not perform well over the long term (and they have gone in the bin) but this one is lasting well (around a year and no regrets).

Just arrived in my kitchen, and already in use!

Also known as a 'mezzaluna', (Italian for 'half moon'), this two handed curved blade 'knife', in stainless steel, with comfortable brushed steel handles.

Embossed with Nigella's logo.

Just the right weight and shape...although a bit of an acquired technique, it is actually quite easily mastered - especially when used with Nigella's 'Mezzaluna Board', which I would also recommend for its shape and size.

The 'Living Kitchen' Herb Chopper is easily washed up, or do it the 'express way', and pop it in the dishwasher, but watch the blade - it is truly SHARP!

Approx. Blade Length: 22 cm
Approx. 14 cm long handles

A super kitchen gadget which has made me leave my favourite 'Kitchen Devils' in the drawer, tonight!

Once you get past the fact you could almost buy a full knife set for the same price as this one blade, you'll be glad you paid the premium price-tag. Like many examples - you pay cheap, you pay twice - so if you need something like this then just go for it and get Nigella's one. I had a similar, cheaper one of these a few years ago which actually dented on the blade edge when I accidentally left a woody stem on some herbs I was chopping, and dulled within 3 months.

The blade on this knife though is terrifyingly sharp, and I've had mine for 3 years now and it's never needed sharpening despite regular use, and even 3 years on is in perfect condition.

The knife is large, heavy and robust, so feels very secure in your hands but literally makes mincemeat of anything you throw at it - and works just as well on a flat chopping board as it does on a specially designed bowl board - though for real control you probably want to invest in one of those as well.

I've used mine for herbs of course, but also chopping dried fruit, nuts and chocolate to make fabulous mini chunks for cookies etc, meat where a recipe calls for a fine dice, salad leaves, onions (which it massacres) and - one of its greatest uses - slicing pizza and focaccia. It's just brilliant and VERY versatile.
However - I would STRONGLY advise keeping it in the provided sheath between uses - not only will it keep the blade in good condition, but also will prevent accidents if you keep the knife in a draw.

Having just installed a new kitchen my daughter and her husband were looking to dress it with modern but useful items, Nigella Lawson is really big in their house, so this Herb Chopper, was exactly what he wanted for his birthday present. Lets face it, men, you need to know in advance if you want to really get them something that they want and need. This came straight from Amazon, a lovely cream box, (did not have to wrap it - just a bow), and hear that it is first class and works a charm. I was with them recently and it has pride of place on the top shelf, out of the reach of little fingers and hands, and he says it is a reall joy to use. Thank you Amazon, for the price, the swift delivery and Nigella for putting a first class product in a really posh box all for £11. That gets my vote!!
