Nidemon is Mr Cormier's second novel, and a worthy second in the series for Ilien and gang. In this story, Ilien must close a crossing that threatens the fabric of his world and, in the porcess, become that which he fears.
As with Nomadin, the writing is excellant, the flow and pace drawing the reader in and keeping them there. The subtle use of humour enhances the plot and comes across naturally. After all, we do not go through the day without laughing and joking a few times, so why should characters be any diferent? Although written for the YA market, adults will find enough in this story ro keep them entertained. As Phillip Pullman said in a recent interview, adults are turning to YA books because in them they find a good story written at a pace to make them want to turn the pages, whereas most books aimed at the adult market are too literate in that they overdo description and go for elaboration when good story telling would sufice.
In Nidemon you get a great story, well written, with an ending that leaves you wanting to read the third book in the series.
Nidemon is a more than worthy successor to Nomadin and I would heartily reccommend it.

This is a fantastic sequel to Nomadin and very hard to put down! I still find it hard to believe this is only Mr Cormier's second book as it is brilliantly written and keeps you hooked the entire way through.
The characters start to come into their own a little bit more in this book and you can easily imagine being with them on their journey. There are also some surprising twists that leave you absolutely dying for more! I loved this book and recommend it to absolutely everyone. Buy it, you'll regret it if you don't!
Overall a cracking good-read! I hope the next book is on its way as I am having to read both books again to fill up the time...

The second in the series and a perfect sequel to Nomadin.
Written in the fantasy genre, you wouldn't think there was much originality left for that arena but Mr Cormier has proved yet again that there are still magical tales to be told which will captivate readers of all ages.
A fast paced read which hooks you on the first page and doesn't let go till the end. This book is the middle one of a trilogy I believe and unlike some second books, is not a 'filler' story but a tale full of adventure, magic and believable characters which will satisfy the Nomadin fans and enrapture new readers.
Mr Cormier has not let us down but has in fact raised the bar for books in this genre!
I for one cannot wait for the release of Necromancer, the third book which is apparently due for release Summer 2007!

I WANT BOOK 3!!!! 27 Nov. 2005
By Mike - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is very simply a very good book.

Having read the first book, I thought I knew what to expect in the way of story. Boy, was I wrong! This story did something that most books don't do. It actually changed the boundaries of the original world that the story was contained in. In the first book, most of the mentions of the "Eastlander" were just brief. But the, Cormier takes us to the Eastland. Then, he talks of the worlds which are outside of Nadae, the original land of the first and second books, setting the stage for book 3.

I am very pleased and excited with the fast-paced storyline. I can complain all I want about how I want more character description, but that's just nitpicking. Overall, it's the character development throughout the story which makes it very readable.

Great Book, Mr. Cormier. And keep 'em coming! Can't Wait for Book 3!

Loved the 2nd book 16 Nov. 2008

For this book being the writer's second book, he's an excellent author. This book contains alot of mystery, the action is not excessive, and it's first and foremost a page turner. Ilien and Windy are following the guide of the Swan and you are introudced to Bulcrist a Nidemon and Pedustil a steam dragon. Upon meeting Bulcrist it's not clear if he's to be trusted or not. Ilien still doesn't know what he is and it's not clear who the prophised one is yet. Ilien has begun seeing more and more visions of what the future holds. He will also begin learning a new magic, the Untrue Language. Is Ilien Nomadin or Nidemon? Is he Reknemarken or the Creator?

If you are looking for more of a riproaring ride through a world filled with lots of mystery and magic, no matter your age, read the 2nd book in the Nomadin series. It does not fail to disappoint.
Great sequel 29 April 2008

Nidemon being the middle book in the trilogy, was a great sequay from the 1st book. The story line is consist with the first and even though I got is a year or two after the first, all I had to do was reread the last two chapters of the first to get up to date. Very enjoyable and I look forward to the 3rd book.
