Product Description

On both personal and professional levels, Nicole Kidman's story is a fascinating one. Now 34, she is arguably one of the most famous actresses in the world with a string of successful films behind her, a possible Oscar for "Moulin Rouge" and a clutch of movies in 2002. Her career could not be starrier. But, bruised from her divorce from Tom Cruise, she finds herself suddenly single with two adopted children to care for. And yet she has blossomed as she has emerged from being Mrs Tom Cruise. From her comfortable Australian background in a highly political family, through a youthful obsession with ballet, to personal encouragement from award-winning director Jane Campion and an early career in television, Kidman was bent on an acting career. And, when she met Cruise on "Days of Thunder", on marrying him. Ewbank and Hildred tell her story.

Not the best! 19 Aug 2002
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
I bought this book with a little trepedition - I thought that maybe this was a quick way of cashing in on Nicole Kidman's recent personal problems and her success. I did so anyway and I found the book to be informative in some ways but a little simplistic in many other ways. It is a very quick book to read and, comparing it to other biographies, was not overwhelming in detail and content. The impression given, was that this book was compiled of magazine interviews and the like, and that the authors have not had any real contact with the subject.
All in all, a quick, slightly interesting book that needed more depth in its content. Would advise waiting for a more substantial book to come out.

This book is a good read but unfortunately nothing more. There is little more about Nicole in this book that the average fan wouldn't already know. Yes, we know she likes danger, travelling and excitement and challenging acting roles and the authors seem to spend most of the book explaining this.
The reader is not given an idea about what went wrong in the Tom Cruise marriage. A lot of the book is devoted to explaining how Nicole remained in the shadows of Tom's acting roles and salaries and does little to explain the lowest point in her career after consecutive films she appeared in bombed horribly in the mid nineties.
Nicole Kidman is such a popular subject on which to write a book right now, this one has by no means done her jutice. The writers barely sound as though they are intrigued or absorbed by their subject.
