I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from this film. It's not quite a chick-flick, and yet it doesn't really fall into the American Pie/Superbad field of comedy, either.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist is about a group of young people who have a crazy night out. Nick (played by Superbad and Juno star Michael Cera) and his band are playing a gig at a club, but Nick is distraught when he sees his ex-girlfriend in the crowd. The ex-girlfriend who recently dumped him, has completely ignored him ever since and is also there with a new guy. However, things may be looking up for Nick as he catches the eye of another girl who's in the audience, checking him out. Later, in an attempt to save face in front of her bitchy classmate, the girl, Norah (Kat Dennings, of The 40 Year Old Virgin and The House Bunny), asks Nick to pretend to be her boyfriend for five minutes, and kisses him. Trouble is, the bitchy classmate is Tris, Nick's ex. Tris' nose is immediately put out of joint because although she's finished with Nick, she doesn't want anyone else, much less her rival Norah, to have him.

The evening slowly descends into madness as Norah's best friend, Caroline, goes missing. Nick, Norah and Nick's gay bandmates all set out to find her, whilst at the same time seeking information on a secret gig which is taking place. The hottest band ever is playing a gig on the night in question, but they won't say where. Thrown together by circumstances, Nick and Norah discover a love for the same music and try to ignore the growing attraction between them. Eventually, it becomes impossible to ignore. But as Tris is on the rampage and Norah's ex won't leave her alone, things are complicated. The young couple must make some tough decisions, and soon.

Overall, I really enjoyed this film. It really does defy classification. It's funny, and has an underlying love story, but I wouldn't say its overly soppy. It's fun, crazy and easy to watch. I found myself really liking the characters and rooting for them. The perfect film for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

For a good romantic comedy - this movie ticks all the right boxes. It has universal appeal to both sexes, and contains many funny moments, and the odd cringeworthy moments.

Well cast, well acted and a pleasure to watch.

Comes higly recommended - one of the best films I have seen this year.

Based on the novel of the same name by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, this film tells the story of one night in New York's indie music scene as Nick and Nora meet by chance while hunting for a mysterious secret gig.

It's difficult to categorize this film as it doesn't really fit into any of the pre-defined conventions. It's part love story and part adventure with some comedy thrown in. This all adds up to a very enjoyable film to watch that will stay with you for quite some time aftwewards.

very funny
Loved it, you can't not want to watch it again. It's witty and sad and a true love story. You must buy it and watch it like I did. Chick flick that boys can also watch.

LOVED IT.
It's really funny. It's romantic, but with a twist.
It's got Michael Cera and Kat Dennings.
What more could you want?!

One of my favourites.

Kat Dennings deserves bigger movies
Well, what can I say? This was one of my favourite films of 2008 and for several reasons. First of all, Michael Cera and Kat Dennings are the definition of perfect casting here. Read more

A welcome change.
This film is severely underrated. It's a cleverly written rom-com, but with none of the vomit/cringe associations that term conjures. Read more

So cute!

We didn't miss it. This is it
This is a nice feel good movie. The plot is far fetched at times and the characters aren't always well drawn but I found myself liking most of them. Read more

Highly enjoyable
Lovely film with no specific audience other than that of a fun loving audience. Sweet funny and enjoyable without the need for cliche characters and plot. excellent soundtrack.
