My main reason for buying this was I wanted to be able to play music on my hifi without having to have an audio lead trailing across the room. Syncing to a Samsung NC10 netbook was effortless, and the media control buttons work as expected too (play/pause/skip tracks/volume) so I can tuck the netbook out of the way and skip tracks from the handset directly.
Also worth noting is that this has separate headphone and charger connections (unlike many similar devices which charge through the headphone socket) - this means, with a USB mains adaptor, you can keep this plugged in and wired into your hifi all the time, and not worry about having to keep recharging the battery.
It has a minor annoying habit of resetting when you plug in the power (so it looses sync until you reconnect), but that is pretty minor, and nothing to complain about. Also the supplied headphones aren't the best, but I had a good pair at hand so that didn't matter either!
The range is also good - I've had the netbook sat upstairs and walked all around the house (albeit a fairly modern house with thin walls) and not had any signal problems, so you can connect headphones and listen to music somewhere that you don't want to lug your laptop with you!
It also works well as an in-car solution, using one of those mp3 player car tape adaptors, or a car radio with an aux input, you can clip the handset somewhere easy to reach, and control your music without having to (illegally!) fiddle with a phone or laptop whilst driving!
I haven't tried it as a phone handsfree / skype headset yet, so can't comment on that part.
